Hi Guys, I believe the Ring metamodel has been proposed 4 or 5 years earlier. Is it acctually in use in the current pharo tools? which ones? I have been told that Martin has develloped a different model : Ficus What are the limitations that Martin tried to fixed?What can be further unhanced? Thanks. Abdou.

Modal dialogs come up in different layers?

What's the difference between a ColorSelectorDialogWindow and a TextEntryDialogWindow? I call them in the same way from a palette, but the color dialog comes up over the palette, and the person dialog below. Both palettes are in layer 20. Pharo 4.0 MethodContext Fuel

/Hi there, I'm still migration some stuff to Pharo 4.0 and am aware of the fact that MethodContext was deprecated and Context has to be used instead I'm migrating objects from Pharo 3 using Fuel - that works fine - except if an object is an instantion of a class containing blockclosures any advice ? thanks in advance Johannes /

breaking infinite loop from saved image

In moment of my utter brilliance I managed to save image without noticing that I have infinite loop running... So it obviously crashed and launching is quite problematic. I managed to recompile infringing method from a startup script, since it seems strangly that it has higher priority, however right after that garbage collection kicks in and due to (probably) massive accumulated stack it dies again...(it is a nice 875M image -_-) ~~~~~~~~~ Smalltalk stack dump: 0xff916d80 I SmalltalkImage>lowSpaceWatcher 0xb7674470: a(n) SmalltalkImage 0xf2ae8a2c s [] in SmalltalkImage>installLowSpaceWatcher 0xf2ab50e0 s [] in BlockClosure>newProcess stack page bytes 4096 available headroom 3300 minimum unused headroom 3524 (out of memory) ~~~~~~~~~ Is there some magic remedy for this? It seems that there is a small window between starting the image and it crashing where I can do some little things; I managed to file out the most critical package like this, however I don't know where else I was making changes (day-ish of work)... The loop itself is announcement-based, so maybe that's why there is some room for experimenting... Thanks, Peter

right-aligned Spec labels ?

how 2 right-align a label text in Spec ? I assigned a Text instance to a label with textAlignment rightFlush: self /labelKey/ label: (/key/ asText addAttribute: TextAlignment rightFlush). However, LabelModel ignores the TextAlignment. Can it be done? and how? NativeBoost nested structures

Hello everyone, I have a nested struct, let's say "struct1" which contains "struct2" which contains an int field named "field". When I try to update the field from struct 1 directly I can't. What I mean is if I do : "struct1 struct2 field: 4" for instance, the value in field is not updated. Even if I inspect "struct1 struct2" and I manually set the "field variable by doing : "self field: 4" then if I go back to my struct1 and do "self struct2 field" the value has not been updated. So basically the only way I have to update a field in a nested structure is to recreate the second struct entirely : "struct1 struct2: (Struct2 new field: 4)" and now it works. It seems odd because in C you can do "struct1.struct2.field = 4;" and it works fine. You can reproduce this with the NBTestNestedStructure class from NativeBoost itself : | myStruct | myStruct := (NBTestNestedStructure new oneByte: (NBTestStructure1byte new field: 1)). Transcript show: myStruct oneByte field; cr. myStruct oneByte field: 4. Transcript show: myStruct oneByte field; cr. myStruct oneByte: (NBTestStructure1byte new field: 4). Transcript show: myStruct oneByte field; cr. For me the Transcript shows 1 1 4 whereas in my opinion it should show 1 4 4. So am I doing something wrong or is this some kind of a bug ? Bug in Open Workspace from File-Browser?

The File Browser has a Context Menu "Workspace with Contents". It opens an Edit Window (String Morph), but not a Workspace ... Is the Menu-Title wrong or the implementation? BW, Volkert
