Conveying the usage of an object

Hi, In other smalltalks, which had the capability of marking a method with more than one category, I could make a method public/private AND it's functional category (accessor, printing, etc) I did this to explicitly show the user which methods I expect to be sent to the object and which ones I don't. It didn't seem to me I can assign more than one category in Pharo, so my question is: How can I deal with this problem? Which is "the Pharo way" to accomplish this?

Where to channel questions

Hi, I'm new to the Pharo community and I was wondering where to channel Pharo-use related questions. In the Pahro.org site it suggests to post questions on StackOverflow "If you have any question regarding Pharo, use StackOverflow <http://stackoverflow.com/tags/pharo>. Be sure to tag your question with the pharo tag, so that your question is not lost amongst all the questions on StackOverflow." But is also states that Pharo questions can be directed at this user list. What is the criteria to use one or the other?

Thanks, it's giving this, so it's appears to be 32 bit (I compiled with CFLAGS=-m32): /usr/local/lib/libocilib.dylib: Mach-O dynamically linked shared library i386 I think the library is ok, it's just not being found by Pharo when I launch it as an application from the Finder dialog. If I launch Pharo from a terminal window,like ./Pharo, it finds the library using DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH, it doesn't even need a sym link in the Pharo Plugins directory and the library is found by Pharo and works. If I create a sym link in the Plugins directory or copy the dylib to the Plugins directory and launch Pharo via the Finder dialog window, it fails with "External module not found", so it appears to be how Pharo and/or OSX sets it library path when launched as an Application that is causing the issue. Thanks.

Hi, I wrote a FFI wrapper for an Oracle library ( OCILib ) sometime ago, which worked on Pharo 1.4 and Pharo 2.0 / 3.0. I'm now trying to use it with Pharo 4.0 and its failing with "External module not found". This is on OSX and I've set DYLD_LIB_LIBRARY so the OCILib dylib is present in it. I've also tried putting a sym link to the library in Resources directory. Do I need to set anything else, such as Info.plist ? Thanks

Multiple tags

Does the new tag model for packages support multiple tags for a class? For example, instead of having a Test-Model tag, I could have a class that tests a model class tagged both as Test and Model. I tried to assign a single class two labels (by drag & dropping and it didn't work)

How do I update PharoLauncher?

self naiveUserMode: #on. If I press refresh in PharoLauncher, it doesn't tell me there is a new version available, and asks me to download, install and restart the launcher. If I download by hand and reinstall, will it keep all my images and settings? Is that different on Ubuntu with apt update/grade? How can I switch/upgrade the vm used for an image? Stephan

issue with monticello ancestor ?

Hi! I often experience that ancestors are not properly marked as non-bold in monticello. Consider the following: Why .5.mcz is in bold since it is the ancestor of version 6? Hi, Yes, it's on the same machine. I've tried copying the dylib to MacOS/Plugins directory and it doesn't fix it. Weirdly, if I start the Pharo executable from the command line, where I've set the DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH for the dylib in the shell environment, it works. So it seems to be something to do with how OSX Applications have their DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH set. I know there used to be a file in /etc/ on older versions of OS X where you could set it where it did get picked up by applications, but that no longer seems to be the case with the latest version of OSX. Thanks
