Image growing size

Hi all, The official image i've downloaded weighted about 40 MB. Now its size is about 200 MB. What is the explanation? Is this normal or have i done something wrong? I haven't been using globals, just downloaded and defined some packages. The only over persistent thing i've done is to keep an instance variable in some classes i wanted to have a unique instance. Hi, I'm using a Zotero collection for keeping track of several references I have found for my article about the experience of the outline/tree-like metaphor for writing inside Pharo (as soon as I have a presentable working draft I hope to share it with you). Now I want to make a post-processing of the bibtex file exported from Zotero. The idea is to use "shorttitle" field instead to replace the Zotero auto-generated one and have custom keys. So for example instead of: ======= @misc{_holistic_????, title = {Holistic software assessment (Uni Zurich - 2011) on Vimeo}, shorttitle = {Girba-holistic-2011}, url = {http://vimeo.com/42073344?from=outro-local}, urldate = {2014-08-19}, note = {00000} } ======= I would like to have: ======= @misc{Girba-holistic-2011, title = {Holistic software assessment (Uni Zurich - 2011) on Vimeo}, shorttitle = {Girba-holistic-2011}, url = {http://vimeo.com/42073344?from=outro-local}, urldate = {2014-08-19}, note = {00000} } ======= I have already installed Citizen and open it on the browser to see the code, but I can find any place to start with examples. moving to git and preserving monticello history

Hi, we would like to switch our project over to git, however is it possible to preserve the history? I.e. to convert mcz (or wherever monticello stores it) to git commits, or do I have to start from scratch? Thanks, Peter

Hi, I saw this repository on smalltalkhub: http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~blabux/JavaLoader/ and I wonder if someone could give me some examples of use. For example, is it possible to use JavaLoader with Roassal to display class hierarchy of a java project or something like that? I browsed google and the mailing list's archives but didn't found any doc/examples... Maybe I'm not searching in the right place? :) Thanks in advance, Julien

Gitfiletree unstable on Windows

Hello This is me again with problems with gitfiletree. In general it works just fine, but in about 50 % cases it crashes VM. It happens to me when loading via Gofer new url: 'http://smalltalkhub.com/mc/Pharo/MetaRepoForPharo40/main'; configurationOf: 'GitFileTree'; loadDevelopment. Metacello new baseline:...; repository:'gitfiletree:///...'; load. or when opening repository in Monticello. Sometimes the crash is handled and dmp file is generated, but sometimes just Pharo.exe stops. Using Windows 7 64-bit, VM tried 420 (latest) from 2015-03-26 and stable from 2014-05-15, images tried multiple between 40546 to 40588 and also 30864. How to silently generate and remove code

Hi all, for LRP I am auto generating classes and methods, and removing them when I no longer need them. This however produces a lot of entries in the change file that are not needed at all. So I am looking into generating and removing them silently, however with not much success. GitHub Mirror Workflow

Does anyone have a good workflow for mirroring a repo with GitHub? Do you just copy the MC version to a GitFileTree repo after every commit to e.g. SmalltalkHub? via the MC Browser UI? Messaging solutions for Pharo

Hi, I'll be needing to add bidirectional messaging to our current Android (Java) application, and as usual I'm expecting to manage the server side of the communication with Pharo. I'm evaluating two alternatives, but I'm in open to other, proven, options. Option 1. WebSockets Open a WebSocket on each device, and push/retrieve messages from each of these, tracking the device id if I need to recreate a new socket (avoiding recreating new sockets in case of connectivity issues, very common). Option 2. MQTT [1] This is basically a mobile oriented MQ, super low footprint on mobile. For what I saw, I could implement the server using an intermediate MQ (RabbitMQ) and use STOMP to connect to it. Option 3. XMPP [3] Provides several features I'll need in the future, like file transfer in addition to regular text messaging. It is very well supported in Android with Smack [4], but I don't know if we have a Pharo server for it, or if somebody ever played with it. By means of simplicity and use load I favor option 1, because I can understand it better, and as everything moves towards web based technologies, I could implement WAMP [5] on top of that in the future. Right now I'd need to have a hundred websockets opened at the same time, which doesn't sound like a heavy load to me, but I certainly don't know. In the future it could be an order of magnitude bigger, and that's why I don't discard more complex solutions like XMPP or MQTT. Regards!
