running multiple gemstones

quote pairing. how to do this correctly?

simulating has and belongs to many (HABTM)

i just want to make sure that i am thinking about this the seaside/smalltalk way.. i would like to build a 'has and belongs to many' relation where i can drill down on my data from either side. say i have a movie, and a theater. a movie can be shown in many theaters, and a theater can show many movies. i would want to be able to ask a theater what movies it's showing, or a movie which theaters it is showing in. my initial thought would be to create a 'showing' model, where it would have a movie and a theater attached.. then i could query showing for either movie or theater.. or, i could have a theaters Collection on movies and a movies Collection on on theaters, and contain that information in only two models.. any suggestions? thanks! -- ---- peace, sergio photographer, journalist, visionary http://www.ThoseOptimizeGuys.com http://www.CodingForHire.com http://www.coffee-black.com http://www.painlessfrugality.com http://www.twitter.com/sergio_101 http://www.facebook.com/sergio101

Loading and using Designer

Hello List : I'm a Mac OSX user new to SmallTalk and Pharo. I'd like to experiment with Designer but cannot work out how to load the package and open in Pharo. GUI Painter

I'm puzzled why the only SmallTalk I've found which runs on the Mac, namely VisualWorks, has a GUI painter. However, compared to Xcode or even RealBasic (or Hypercard for that matter), the GUI painter seems remarkably primitive, given the length of time VisualWorks and SmallTalk, in general, have been under development. An up-to-date GUI builder with well designed, native widgets seems to me to be a prerequisite for a working software development application. Being required, for example, to program a button from scratch takes one back to the early days of personal computing. What is preventing the various SmallTalks from offering a modern GUI painter? Stef- Thanks for the welcome and for all the work you and others have done to make Pharo available. I just started using it this week. The documentation is very good and I'm enjoying SmallTalk programming but one very important and basic thing I haven't been able to find anywhere is: How do I deploy an app to users? I can send them the one-click image with my code in it, but I really don't want to tell the users that they have to open a workspace and type LOGame new openInWorld command-d to start the app. How do I set the image to run that when the .app or .sh is run? It seems to me instructions for this should be linked to from the Documentation section on the pharo-project.org home page so new developers can get their apps out to users quickly.
