subscribe on system change

I want to do some logic when there is a change on the system, like when a new class is loaded or when a method change. I don't want to put this logic explicit on the methods of the system who do that. I would like to know if i could subscribe to those special events (method change, new method, changes on a class and so on) so I can do what I want outside those methods. I heard about the Announcements but I don't know if Announcements could help with this problem. Can anyone give me some highlights to do those things? Thanks! about Metacello package loading order

I have a configuration as follows : spec for: #common do: [ "a class in package BBB inherits from a class in package AAA" spec package: 'AAA'; package: 'BBB' with: [spec requires: 'AAA'] ]. Now, when I try to load this configuration, it fails to properly load the package BBB (there are some missing classes) with this msg: *This package depends on the following classes:* * A class in package AAA* *You must resolve these dependencies before you will be able to load these definitions: A class in package BBB.* It seems that there is a way to load packages in a linear order ( http://code.google.com/p/metacello/wiki/FAQ#Controlling_Package_Initializat…) However, my project defaults is already set to linear and after reading this post my problem is not resolved. Can anyone help me how I can enforce package AAA to load before BBB? tx, usman

Stepping through diameter of CircleMorph

Hi i have a new sub class for CircleMorph which has step method. step self extent: self extent +1. Hello All, I'm trying to get working the example shown in: http://blog.doit.st/2011/02/23/cloudforksso-on-pharo-with-stunnel/ I loaded the package without probles doing 1 Gofer new 2 squeaksource: 'Cloudfork'; 3 package: 'ConfigurationOfCloudforkSSO'; 4 load. 5 (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfCloudforkSSO) project latestVersion load: 'Tests' When I try to evaluate the piece of code that follows, 1 self default httpClient: ((CFHttpClientTunnelAccess new) 2 client: CFHttpClientZincAccess new ; 3 tunnel: 'www.google.com' through: 'localhost:20011' ; 4 tunnel: 'api.twitter.com' through: 'localhost:20012'; 5 tunnel: 'graph.facebook.com' through:'localhost:20013' ; 6 tunnel: 'open.login.yahooapis.com' through:'localhost:20014' ; 7 tunnel: 'openid.hyves-api.nl' through:'localhost:20015' ; 8 yourself ) I found CFHttpClientTunnelAccess class is not in my image. Browsing, I found CFTunneledHttpClient, but the protocol of this class is different from the missing one. Furthermore, I don't understand where this code should be located, so that self reference makes sense. I'm using Pharo 1.3 , as I think it is the Pharo version contemporary with this package and post. Is there some updated documentation for this? is someone using this package or connecting to twitter from pharo? Thanks af

Polling sockets

Hi guys, theres something like the select or poll C functions in order to wait for incoming-data from a set of sockets? I searched at the list and in the pharo by example book without any success and i didn't find a method named poll / select ( select in terms of sockets ) in the image. Maybe i need to spawn a process per socket? Thanks!

Pharo on Ubuntu ARM

Hello, I'm running Ubuntu ARM (armhf) on my Toshiba AC100. With the help of apt-get I've installed the squeak-vm and the squeak-image, which both run fine. Now I've downloaded the Pharo-image, but could not find the cog-vm for ARM. Running the Pharo-image with the squeak-vm just gives me a segmentation fault: -1550458048 [] in ByteSymbol>? /usr/bin/squeak: line 277: 4603 Segmentation fault (core dumped) $VM I don't know if it is in general possible to run the image with the squeak-vm. Does an ARM-build for the cog-vm exists? Thanks in advance, Marc

Bag of Permutations

I would like to get a collection of permutations of another collection but I can't make it work. This ends up incorrectly with the same element many times in Bag p: | m p | m := #(1 2 3). p := Bag new. m permutationsDo: [:each | Transcript show: each ; cr. p add: each. Transcript show: p ; cr. ]. Transcript show: '------'; cr. p do: [:each| Transcript show: each; cr] But this very similar code ends up correctly with different elements in Bag p: | m p | m := #(1 2 3). p := Bag new. m do: [:each | Transcript show: each ; cr. p add: each. Transcript show: p ; cr. ]. Transcript show: '------'; cr. p do: [:each| Transcript show: each; cr] Any ideas about what am I doing wrong? How can I get a collection of permutations? persist data across a redirect..

the way the facebook authorization scheme works is as follows: 1. on the first go round, facebook sends a POST with some data in it that needs to be parsed to pull an authorization code out of it. 2. if the app isn't authorized, i need to redirect to an authorization dialog to so that the user can authorize my app. 3. once the user does that, my app receives an oauth code, and i am on my way. i have everything working, except, i am not sure where to store the authorization code.. in my main component's renderOn, it looks to see if the a instance variable 'oauthToken' is set. if not, it renders some javascript that is really just a redirect to the facebook authorization screen. once the app is authorized, 'oauthToken' is set to the correct value. then, the authorization dialog sends the request BACK to the root url.. everything works correctly..BUT.. on the second time back, the redirect from facebook, it looks like it starts a brand new session (there is a new instance of the main component created). i was hoping that this would all be one session, and that i could just set an instance variable once, and not even touch the session, but i don't think this is going to happen. plus, it looks like i will be firing up a new session on return anyway, so what i have saved in session will be lost. anyone have any ideas on how to cleanly persist this variable after facebook's redirect? thanks! -- ---- peace, sergio photographer, journalist, visionary http://www.ThoseOptimizeGuys.com http://www.CodingForHire.com http://www.coffee-black.com http://www.painlessfrugality.com http://www.twitter.com/sergio_101 http://www.facebook.com/sergio101

SHA256 hashing with secret key..

I've downloaded the Cog-mac.zip from: http://www.pharo-project.org/pharo-download/unstable-2-0 How can I find out the version/revision number? It would be cool to have the number in the file name.
