Hi guys I'm thinking aloud... I was wondering if we could not take advantage of a new class: Selector. MethodDict would only contain selectors and not symbols. I remember that I talked about that with hernan. Stef

Help (perfect for newcomers) migrating a technical FAQ

Hi folks. I had a good idea and and it perfect for someone that wants to help and don't know how. It is not the most entertained task, but I promise you will learn a lot. Mostly, if you are newcomer. The idea is basically to migrate the FAQ that is here: http://scg.unibe.ch/wiki/faq/pharofaq to a new section in the collaborative Pharo book: http://book.pharo-project.org/ So....any takers ? Let us know so that we generate a new user in the Book The idea is also to check whether what is says is still correct for pharo or if it needs an update. Or even how to improve it (from the view of a newcomer). Thanks Mariano

Printing documents

Hey all, Is there a way to drive a printer from a pharo environment? I would like to know if it's possible to generate a pdf and instruct the printer to print it. Any advice? Thanks in advance, Linus

Problem in test writing.

Hi all, I am quite new to smalltalk and I am probably having "cultural" difficulties. I mostly work with Java. So it is possible that there is trivial answer for my question or my question is just wrong. But here it goes. I am implementing object that should make a call to some other object. I need to test that the caller works correctly based on the return value it receives. So basically the code and the test looks like this and I need to fill the XXXX part: Object>>doSomething result:=innerObject makeACall. "based on result do something" Test>>test "get bogus object for testing from somewhere" mockForTest := XXXX. (Object new) innerObject: mockForTest. doSomething. "check that something was done." I am used to resolve this kind of problems using mock objects. I tought it would be easy to implement in smalltalk too because it is dynamic language. However with my limited searches I did not found much usable code or examples how to do it. So, my question is: is there some easy way to resolve this problem or does it require a bigger library? If it does, is there a library already for that? -- Panu

Hi guys I'm starting to work on http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=2635 which I split into http://code.google.com/p/pharo/issues/detail?id=2875 Now after I will apply Seaside decomposition to have Test "in their package" Tests-ToolBuilder -> ToolBuilder-Test Now in addition I would like to have Kernel the right stuff there Collection-Kernel Containing what is needed for the core I prefer that to Kernel-Collection since people that want to look at collection will fin it grouped in Collection but the kernel means that we know that they will be for the kernel Now for Array we will have Array will be in Collection-Kernel Collection-Kernel-Test Stef

Hi everybody I came back with a new version of Method Name with a better Package Chooser and more choices about the search :) I hope it's useful but if there is some behaviour you would like the Method Name implements, just let me know Gofer new squeaksource: 'PharoTaskForces'; package: 'MethodName'; load. Is there any way to make the code formatter work better?

Hi guys - In my seaside 1.1rc3 image, when I use the context format (r) menu item, it seems to result in horribly formatted code? Is there some way to get it to produce something that looks like most examples I see? e.g. it makes my render mothod look like this (not the huge indentation of with:) - renderContentOn: html (html div) id: self id; with: [ self contentModel hasWaiters ifFalse: [ I would expect something more like: renderContentOn: html (html div) id: self id; with: [ self contentModel hasWaiters ifFalse: [ Also - is the shortcut key (alt-r) supposed to work as well?
