I've finally been able to answer my own question. Execute the following and no more PharoDebug.log and no more stack dump to stdout/stderr (I'm not exactly sure which debugger is being used, so I set both for good luck): Â Â Â DebugSession logDebuggerStackToFile: false. Â Â Â GTGenericStackDebugger logDebuggerStackToFile: false. Pharo 1.4 porting

Ciao, i have a old Pharo1.4 Latest update: #14445 run on MacBook with Mac OS X 10.7.5 ( Lion ). In this system the Pharo image run fine. I copy the relative folder on a MacBook with Mac OS X 10.14.6 ( Mojave ). Now in this system, when i double click on the relative folder icon the system open a empty black foreground window. The System Application don't report any Pharo application. I need to register - install a Pharo application? In this last system i also copy a Pharo GemTools-1.0-beta.8.7-3101 folder. It run without problem. Any consideration is welcome. Thanks, Dario

R: A Canticle for Smalltalk

Hi, I started using ST in 1990 and I have developed an application with VSE for company management (MIDA - Management Integrato Dati Aziendali) at the beginning of 2000 and at present there are still more than 300 users and I integrated it with Pharo for WEB applications. Now, I am integrating it with a fuzzy logic (FuzzyWorld) tool that I have already used for different fields like football training, electroforesys analysis, air pollution and many other application. IMHO I believe that ST is the best tool on the market. True, some applications are very long-lived. But in my experience, a great many applications are EOL'd within 20 years. It may happen for many different reasons, some technical, some political, some because the technology has grown out of date (which causes HR and support difficulties). The error is quite specific, you have to click on the maximise green button on a Mac and go full screen - if you just resize or alt-click that button you donât seem to get this problem (at least I havenât been able to - but Ted hasnât confirmed this yet). So I donât think its quite so bad - and in fact it doesnât always crash, but I have got stuck and been unable to un-maximise, however I could save my work. Hmmm, this is worrisome. My JRMPC competition opens for registration in less than a month, and registrants may use either Windows or Mac. Since the competition is based on Pharo 7, it is absolutely crucial that Mac-using registrants be able to successfully run Pharo 7. Since my Mac mini died last month, I can no longer pursue this matter, so hopefully someone else can follow up on this soon. Personally I don't like the aesthetics, the pace of text and its "nostalgia", and the overall message of the song lyrics ; and although I like the band and song, it's a proven plagiarism of Satriani's "If I could fly". [1] Putting aside the song's controversy, I think it's a lovely aesthetic. It's romantic. It mirrors Smalltalk's former glory. And the video's content suggests a possible bright future.
