Merging

I'm trying to merge code in Pharo 1.0 and I figured out how to point the arrows the right way but I can't figure out how to say that I'm done or accept my changes. There are 2 conflicts. If I right click on the message name in the top left pane, I can pick to keep current version, use incoming version, or mark as conflict. This works on a whole-message basis. But I can also click on the arrows in between the 2 versions of code and pick that I want one line from current version, one from incoming version, etc. How can I then say that I want to use the result of that to resolve the conflict? -- Dave McCloskey davemccloskey(a)gmail.com

[Survey] Assess the cycles in your software

Hi Pharoers, and Smalltalkers in general, Have you seen waited to assess the cycles in your software? Now you can :) We request some of you to perform an experiment using DSM to see your software package structure and to fix cycles between packages. Our tool shows dependencies between packages and highlight some bad dependencies generating structure cycles. It also helps to understand dependencies. Your goal is to fill a survey using our tool. I prepared a mini-tutorial about DSM and eDSM. It can help you to understand the visualization tool. To ease the use of our tool, I loaded it in a PharoCore1.2. And there are two archives available: - the first contains an image with our tool with a model of Pharo loaded in it, so you can play with our tool on pharo itself. It can be downloaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7739334/dsmWithPharo.zip. Pay attention, the image is slow. - the second contains the same thing without the model of Pharo. It is currently not possible to preserve the original formatting with the "extract method" refactoring, since the refactoring causes quite significant changes in two methods. You can however fine-tune the way the refactoring engine should format code in such cases in the setting browser. Hi Pat, I'm sorry, I'm not answering your question because I have no idea about that :P But I'm interested in what do you consider readable code, would you give some examples contrasting to the formatting Pharo would choose? How to make "extract method" preserve my formatting?

The extract method refactoring works great but always formats my code in a way that I hate. It indents certain things way too much, adds parens where I don't want them, etc. Is there a way for it to preserve my formatting? I wrote the code to be nice and readable to me, and I'd like to keep it that way. Pat
