I certainly can understand this sentiment - problem is I am not exactly a Smalltalk newbie ;-), but certainly a Pharo newbie, and I was already compiling a few remarks about quirks I encountered like not being able to deselect a list element or getting a halo to appear (in the latest image that is, not the book image). using a Mac btw) My approach was motivated because I needed to work through the book myself before letting some of our trainees do it. Anyway the responses are all much appreciated! Good catch! It looks to me like the root cause is that the argument 2.3 is being treated as a floating point value, whereas in this context it is really intended as a format specifier (i.e. a string, such as you might use in a sprintf() function). I wrote a test to document this bug, and added the fix to Squeak trunk. The test and the modified #printPaddedWith:to: method are in the attached change set. Monticello: how to update package-cache listing?

I deleted a mcz file manually from the package-cache directory (outside of Pharo), but when I go into the package-cache repository, through Monticello, the deleted file still appears on the list for that package.
