Hello, How can I make a comment on a node dynamically? - Here is a code i've tried: b:= RBParser parseMethod: 'foo self x: 2. x:=0. y:=8.'. node := b body statements at: 1. node comments: { RBComment with: 'comment' at: node stop + 1 }. b formattedCode. - The result: foo self x: 2. . x:=0. y x := 0. y := 8 - I expect: foo self x: 2. Missing Extract Method To Component refactoring

Hi everyone. Does anyone know what happened to the "Extract Method to Component" refactoring which is in Pharo 6, but seems to be missing in Pharo 7 and Pharo 8. I noticed there is a "Move method to another class", but it is quite different (in the sense that it does fewer checks and code editing during the refactoring). Maybe there is some project that needs to be loaded? Or it also may be the case it was not ported to Pharo7/8. In that case, maybe we can port it based on the original implementation from Pharo 6. Any information is welcome to avoid duplicated efforts. Thanks in advance. Arturo

This is an exciting work Roland. Keep going! Bridging Pharo to other technologies is crucial, and you are doing well. Something you could do, is having Pharo running, on a different process, and exchanging (using a binary format) things between C++ and Pharo. H Michael- that seems strange, I just tried the following on a Pharo8 with Catalina: OSPlatform current currentWorkingDirectoryPath. > /Users/macta/Dev/Smalltalk/Pharo/Pharo 8.0 - 64bit Iâm using PharoLauncher, although my images are not stored in Documents, but ~/Dev/Smalltalk/Pharo (I adjusted the launcher settings). Not sure if that makes a difference? Or - perhaps you didnât allow Pharo disk read privileges (that is a new security check in Catalina - see the OSX System Preferences, Security and Privacy, Files and Folders. Mine has a pharo entry with access to Downloads, Documents and Desktop). Newbie to Pharo Just installed the latest 8.0 stable image. Some things work, but anything I do to access any files gets an exception dealing with getcwd in libc.dylib. I am running MacOS Catalina. I searched and found the lib.dylib file and it is an alias to another .dylib file. Is there something else I need to install or configure? Sent from my iPad

Code Changes seems very slow in P8?

I havenât used P8 a lot, but I still find that the code changes tool still needs more work (I feel quite nervous about it vs. the now deprecated changes file). I noticed today on a new P8 image where I did a bit of work (not much). Having launched the image again today (and my laptop had accidentally rebooted), I opted not to load lost code (as I didnât think I had lost any) - but then I went to check what code it thought was lost and was surprised to find that on a new MacBook Pro - it takes 3-4 seconds (with no obvious wait cursor) to show 6700 events? Is this right? Obviously the UI needs improving to show some loading indicator, but why does it take such a long time to determine a smallish number of events? Or is 6700 a lot? Looking in detail it seems that the majority are due to project dependencies I loaded, but I worry that this doesnât scale very well? 100âs of thousands of events should take time, but sub 10k it seems like something odd is going on? Maybe it was always like this? Tim

The dragon has been unleashed. The game engine is now available to the public. See https://www.indiedb.com/engines/dragengine for more information. Right now the Smalltalk Script Module is a proof of concept with the GNU Smalltalk. The idea is to change this to use Pharo and bringing it up to the scope of the DragonScript module. The source code repository is at https://github.com/LordOfDragons/dragengine . I'll add a branch "feature-pharo" to contain all this work. Once Pharo is up to be used properly for embedding (or to help getting there) this branch can be used.
