Pharo 2.0 on Fedora 18

Hello, I'm running Pharo 2.0 on Fedora 18. I seem to have an issue with libssl.so which on my system is 1.0.1e, while libSquekSSL.so looks for version 0.9.8, as described here:Zodiac mail sending in Pharo smalltalk<http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12293670/zodiac-mail-sending-in-pharo-sm…>. Does anyone know how to solve this? I've always wanted to try sound out in Pharo - just for fun. But I've never had even a squeak (pardon the pun) out of Pharo. This is all the more strange since Pharo comes from Squeak and Squeak was touted as a multimedia system and I remember having sound on Squeak when I first looked at it years ago. So, seeing how a new PharoSound has just turned up in the configuration browser in Pharo 2 Summer, I thought at last I was in luck. But no. Still no sound here on Linux. SoundPlayer boinkScale gives a primitive failure on primSoundAvailableBytes. No noise comes from SoundDemoMorph or PianoKeyboardMorph. Can anyone gove me a simple recipe for getting sound to work. I'm on a vanilla Pharo 2.0 Summer on Ubuntu 13.04 32 bit (actually, xubuntu). Pharo as a platform for a large E-Commerce website

Hi, One of my friends is moving forward on a very serious e-commerce portal (startup). Just as an example / illustration - something like say any of the typical largest online shopping stores Initial estimates are typically average peak #no of records to search 100,000 500,000 #no of users online 1,000 5,000 #no of transactions per hour 10,000 50,000 #no of actual commerce gateway transaction per hour 1,000 5,000 Possibly the above details are sketchy but the immediate questions for him to firm up investment plans are: - Will a Pharo based platform be appropriate -- Technology ? -- Robustness & support ? - what will be the team man year effort (ballpark estimate) for development, testing, administration upto initial go-live ?
