Hi Esteban - its a good question (and I'm intrigued what can be done) - but for production aren't you automatically building a fresh image with a CI system... its pretty easy to do these days and this would stop that. Additionally you could add something to search for self halt, as a build step and fail your build on a non-zero result as well. Disable halt and breakpoints globally

Hi, I was bit by a bug in production I couldn't identify and it ended up being a lost halt in the code that was hanging my whole image. So no bug at all, a feature :-) Is there a way to disable the #halt and breakpoints? This way I could add such an expression (if existent) to my server startup and avoid issues like this. Regards! UK Smalltalk User Group meeting - Wednesday, August 26th

The next meeting of the UK Smalltalk User Group will be on Wednesday, August 26th. In this meeting, Erik Stel will present his current project - CodeParadise. CodeParadise is a cloud based platform (to be) to learn to program using Object Oriented principles within a Smalltalk environment. CodeParadise is still in very early development, but some of its results have seen interest from the community. Therefore a presentation will provide insight in the design, current status, and possibilities of the results so far. The discussion afterwards can be used for both in-depth technical topics as well as the more philosophical topics about programming (as warmth and/or beer consumption will guide us). An image is like a computer game that can save its state to disk. The VM is for running the game. With a fresh image, you start the game with a clean slate. With a saved image, you restart the game where you last left it. And programming in Pharo is usually as enjoyable as playing a computer game. :-) Pierce

Hi Robert, The "#selectedLaunchConfiguration was sent to nil" sounds like an error in Pharo Launcher version 2.0 that several people have seen. It's corrected by updating Pharo Launcher to version 2.2. OK, "solved" then next step. When I have started a Image (from a VM) I can save that Image via "Pharo|Sace As" anywhere I want. Then I quit the image. Afterwards I switch back to the Launcher to "Launch Image From Filesystem". However I am greeted with the following error message "#selectedLaunchConfiguration was sent to nil" Can anybody help? Hi, I found the settings on how to change the file system folder. Kind of. In the settings browser|Pharo Launcher I can change the location. However now ALL of my images are put into that specific folder. However I want to push ONE specific image into ONE specific folder. How do I do this? Hello, Robert I have checked previously and seems that there is not a component to present PDF in Gtk basic library. Gtk components are intended to be building blocks to other more complex UI. For doing what you are intending maybe it is required to build a more complex window using Gtk components. One alternative is to do a binding with the Ghostscript library (https://www.ghostscript.com/doc/current/Lib.htm) that already provides all the support to render PDFs. It is designed to call the interested user with a callback with instructions how to render the content. This rendering can be later done directly in Morphic or in Athens. In both cases, they can be shown as part of a GTK window. Another alternative is to check the implementation of Evince (the GTK based PDF presenter of Gnome) to check if it provides a component that can be extracted.
