Here is what I tried: (ImageReadWriter formFromFileNamed: '/Users/sven/Desktop/audio359-main-1600.jpg') asMorph openInWindow. This is a 319K JPG 1600x2263 (Form's Bitmap length is 3620800). [ ImageReadWriter formFromFileNamed: '/Users/sven/Desktop/audio359-main-1600.jpg' ] bench. '2.788 per second' 2 to 3 per second is not very fast, but you create forms of 3.5M - In this case the PluginBasedJPEGReadWriter is used, which should be faster then any of the other formats. What you can do is store a FUEL version of the Form on file, that will be (much) faster (but much larger, it is basically a non-compressed version). Sven

Speed up JPG images loading

Dears, I'm loading a lot of pictures (70) through the method "ImageReadWriter>>formFromFileNamed:". The method is very slow, with images bigger than 5MB. Is there a way to improve the pictures speed loading? Thanks Matteo

Hi Nicolai, I think it would be great to have a specific ListModel for pictures, like the IconListModel. Do you know if there's already someone working on a "picture" ListModel? Could I try to implement it, and its morphic adapter? Hi, Current Status: - SPF record DONE, mails are now send from @association.pharo.org - DNS setup now uses association.pharo.org for normal viewing, just forms forward to https://pharo. <https://pharo.assocation/>wildapricot.org This will change as soon as the SSL certificate setup is completed, which will be next week. Else the website is fully working, all members have been added. Thanks for advices, i added them to my work notes. Working with Spec i found another problem: I create a window with simple layout: menu + custom morph. I want my morph to do some interactive work for me - it must display data and handle mouse down\move\wheel. The problem is: when i start the morph alone - it works. When i start my custom morph inside the spec layout, it doesn't handle mouse events or sometimes handles them randomly. custom morph is a subclass of Morph, initialize widgets and defaultSpec are very simple: initializeWidgets menu := self instantiate: MenuModel. self setupMenu. <- I added menu items here. menu applyTo: self. locationField := LocationFieldMorph new asSpecAdapter. defaultSpec <spec: #default> ^ SpecLayout composed newColumn: [ :col | col newRow: [ :row | row add: #menu ] height: 32; newRow: [ :row | row add: #locationField ] ] yourself all stuff in LocationFieldMorph (my custom morph) is done as described in "Pharo By Example" and works fine when not arranged in Spec layout. What is wrong? Few other questions: - how to switch focus between controls in Spec layout programmatically? (for example, i need one of the controls to become in focus) - how to determine whether a control is in focus or not?
