Introducing VEO: A Live Visual Smalltalk that reimagines what a Smalltalk programming environment can be. VEO enables direct visual manipulation of any object and the creation of windowless visual interfaces. It is built around four core principles: all objects are visual; a single infinite zoomable and pannable canvas serves as the workspace; code can be written "in the air" anywhere in that space to send, evaluate and animate messages and live expressions; and live expressions can freely combine symbols, literals and live object references. Adrian Soma began his professional programming career in 1987, with a longstanding focus on the fundamental challenges of programming itself â particularly user interface design and interaction. He first encountered Smalltalk in 1996 and has worked with it ever since. An early project that would prove formative was an interactive chess course application, for which he built a custom graphical object system from scratch. That system became the first seeds of VEO, the Live Visual Smalltalk environment he has been researching and developing since 2006. This will be an online meeting. AI based test generation

Cheers I am at the moment experimenting with getting an AI to write test methods for me. The current results are a mixture of simple and advanced :-) To get started I wanted to write tests for a class that does not go to the web, file or UI, and doing something which is standard, but with no method comments. So the experiments is for the class "Heap". But in my experience you need to have access to one of the better AI models. So depending on what you want, the choice actually matters (if you want to use TOOLS it turns out that Grok is the one to use at the moment). I can explain in details if any wants me to. Looks like an opportunity to ride the Gen AI wave if there is concerted effort to show a 10% improvement over any other language using Pharo. Some of the historical issues of smalltalk adoption and the key fact that it's USP, Syntax and grammar simplicity can play on its favor... LLM generated Spec Driven Workflow in Pharo

If we can integrate the typical Speckit or Openspec like workflow into smalltalk it can be an experience better than java and python too.. Maybe have a vscode folder talk to pharo through a tcp / udp pipe.. run through the workflow after init: Read the application package if brown field to baseline, then go through new change, apply and archive lifestyle OR have all of it in the IDE.. including md text etc .. use pharo chat to interact..
