Metacello, Github and Cryptography

Hi Guys, I'm looking for a guide on how to load a project from github but I can't find anything. Specifically I want to load the Cryptography package. Udo, told me it is on https://github.com/pharo-contributions/Cryptography, so I went to https://github.com/pharo-contributions/Cryptography but there is no documentation on how to load it. You "have to make a clock where the minutes and seconds should not be above 60." What does that actually *mean*? The *second* part of a UTC time can be 60. The *minute* part cannot. So the limits for minutes and seconds should be different. But what does "should not be above" mean? One approach, given h, m, s is m := s // 60 + m. s := s \\ 60. h := m // 60 + h. m := m \\ 60. h := h \\ 24. In that approach, the interpretation of (h,m,s) is - start with midnight - add h hours m minutes and s seconds of duration Another approach is (s between: 0 and: 60) ifFalse: [s error: 'out of range']. (m between: 0 and: 59) ifFalse: [m error: 'out of range']. (h between: 0 and: 23) ifFalse: [h error: 'out of range']. -- which completely fails to check that s, m, and h are integers. We really want a version of #between:and: that checks that the receiver and arguments are integers. The first approach gets valid leap seconds wrong. The second approach quietly accepts invalid leap seconds. Currently, leap seconds can only occur on December 31 or June 30. And you have to rely on tables to know *which* years have which leap seconds. There is a proleptic formula you can use to fill in leap seconds for years in the past before there was such a thing as leap seconds, but it doesn't help to predict future leap seconds. Let's face it, leap seconds are a major pain in the posterior. Not having leap seconds would also be a pain in the posterior, but different posteriors are involved. Is there a class in the Kernel/Chronology category that might be useful to you? What is the exercise you are trying to work on? Hi Offray, I don't define dependencies in baselines for stuff in my self-hosted Gitea because I work on them myself and I know their interdependencies. And since I am working on them, they are all locally checked out. I load my stuff in the correct order like this: Metacello new baseline: 'StuffOne'; repository: 'tonel:///home/pierce/work/git/StuffOne/src'; load. Metacello new baseline: 'StuffTwo'; repository: 'tonel:///home/pierce/work/git/StuffTwo/src'; load. Here StuffTwo is dependent on StuffOne. To be clear, I have written baselines for StuffOne and StuffTwo, which is how I am loading them here. I'm just not defining in StuffTwo's baseline that StuffOne is a dependency. For me this is more agile because I only need to edit my load snippet and I get immediate feedback by running it. The Git repo roundtripping of fixing up dependencies in baselines OTOH feels more like the edit-compile-test cycle. Eventually if/when I publish StuffOne and StuffTwo, I do have to define the dependencies but it'll be easy because then they'll be on Github. Pierce

Thanks Guille, The document you point was the one I was reading. But I thought that, despite differences between Iceberg and Monticello, the last one would be able to load baselines in a host-neutral Git repository, using https. So, a better question would be: Is possible to load programatically (via a code snippet) using Iceberg, Monticello or something else a baseline that installs a project and its dependencies and is hosted in an independent Git provider? How can self hosted git repositories containing baselines be loaded? Hi Offray, Metacello and Iceberg are different things, although there is some integration between them. Iceberg understand git urls (ssh:// â¦ git(a)github.com <mailto:git@github.com> â¦. https://â¦) Metacello understand its own urls, because it was originally designed to work in independence of git (github:// bitbucket://â¦) You cannot use https:// or ssh:// urls in metacello. Text-Editing UI

Hello. I would like to modify the text-editing UI in Pharo to add some affordances Iâm accustomed to from MacOS. Specifically, right now command(a.k.a. meta)-left/right-arrow moves one word left/right in Pharo, whereas on MacOS this is done with the option(a.k.a. alt)-key, and command-left/right-arrow moves to the start/end of the current visual line. Another MacOS convention I use a lot and would like in Pharo is triple-click to select a whole paragraph. And if I can implement that, I would also like to disable the corresponding Pharo convention (double click at the start or end of the paragraph). Some smaller things that Iâm also not used to: When moving the text cursor one word at a time, Pharo treats white space as words, whereas MacOS skips over white space. Conversely, when double-clicking to select a whole word, MacOS treats white space between words like a word, whereas Pharo selects the adjacent word. So anyway, Iâm wondering what I would have to modify to customize these UI conventions. I didnât see anything relevant in the settings browser. (There was a "Skip over white spaceâ option under "Text Editing," but it didnât affect how the move-cursor-one-word-at-a-time keystrokes work, so I donât know what it does.) Does anyone have any pointers on where these behaviors are encoded in the system? Or if someone has already posted a package for customizing this sort of thing? Alex Landraitis
