I have Pharo 6.1 and Pharo 7.0 working in Ubuntu 18.04 with no trouble so far. I just downloaded the launcher from pharo.org and pulled the images down that way. One thing I do find annoying in Ubuntu 18.04 is the number of programs (like okular) that spew warning messages out the terminal. Pharo, sadly, is one of them. Whenever a debugger window comes up in Pharo there is spewage on the terminal. But it works. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS is, IMHO, is royal piece of crap. Ubuntu seems to have abandoned programmers tools almost completely in 18.04. Iâve had more problems with support of programming tools in 18.04, more than even Windows. I have run âsudo apt installâ maybe 80 times to install tools and libraries. Ubuntu 18.04âs hardware support is also lame compared to 16.04. Personally , Iâm not surprised that Pharo doesnât run on 18.04. Which external module is not found? I personally had a recurring issue when using the P7 VM+Image. I have to use Launcher to get a working environment. How are you supposed to recover code in Pharo - epicea seems half finished?

Hi - Iâve been hit by this a few times now, and Iâm scratching my head how its supposed to work. I moved some classes to another package and tag (but sometimes Pharo does this badly and rather than a sub-tag it makes a new top level package with a hyphen in it). So I then committed my changes to git, and thought nothing of it - but the flaw here is that with a new top package my classes didnât get commited!!! I then changed branch and started something else, but later saw this top level package and thought it was an Iceberg blip (it sometimes doesnât reload packages properly when changing branches) - and so I deleted those classes. A few minutes later it suddenly - it dawned on me Oh noâ¦.. Ok fine - we have changes tech right? But with no .changes file, we use epicea ????? But hereâs the frustration - I know the classes, but they are thousands of lines down the changes list now (Iâve changed branch and loaded new code). Where is the filter by specific class? And gosh its darn slowâ¦. Iâm missing the text editable .changes file right now as this doesnât work so well to get to a specific place to recover methods, comments etc. Am I doing something wrong? Missing something obvious? Tim
