[ANN] New Pharo 6.1 stable VM

Hi, Following what I had in my todo list for when coming back from ESUG, I promoted a new stable VM for Pharo 6.1. This is the VM that has been tested during almost two months for Pharo 7.0, so it should be fine, but let me know if there is any problem. Esteban

overriding FileReference>>copyTo: behavior

Hi, is there an API to copy a file that will override the target destination if it already exists? I was quite surprised that #copyTo: (and #copyAllTo:) will throw up when the target file already exists. Do I need to explicitly remove the file before copying / copy the contents instead? My uni is starting a Pharo course soon and we were thinking about making a custom Pharo 6 image with name: blocked, just to avoid trouble, but I was just checking here whether it can breaking something unexpected. Hi Peter, there is no more #name: in Class (or ClassDescription or Behavior). It is named #setName: It is only used by the class builder, some class methods and some tests. It could be hidden better if it is still a problem. Cheers. And breaking everything. I agree that the situation is not optimal... We were discussing at some point to rename those reflective methods adding a "reflective" prefix. That would avoid such problems but it would become a bit more verbose. Guille

Hi, I see where the issue comes from. The <gtExample> are like test methods that return an object. That object serves as example, but it is not necessarily a user facing object. Look at the picture below showing BlDragExamples>>#draggableInParent. BlDragExamples>>#draggableInParent calls several other methods that are marked as <gtExample>. In the second pane in the inspector you can see these inner methods being unfolded. These examples show how to setup the inner part, and how the pieces fit together. In this case, the outmost example is indeed an element that can be played with (you see it here on the third pane), but the inner objects can be as interesting through the various custom views. This way of working replaces testing and bridges the gap with documentation. It is tested in 6.1. It theoretically should be loadable in 7, too.
