Yes but still, if I understand correctly, it will depend on my load order. I was looking for something like #useNewestVersion (but this might not be possible with DVCS anywayâ¦) So maybe #useLatestFromOfficialRepo I hope you see what I mean :) I might declare what I consider as official repo (like GitHub/svenvc, pharo-extra/polymath, etcâ¦). Anyway, I will try to do it with available possibilities so donât worry about that. Just trying to express my need and use case. Hope it makes sense a bit. Once Iâve s baseline working (or a Metacello script), next action is to do a Jenkins CI job. Yes I think so tooâ¦ Anyway, Iâm not at all criticising Iceberg/Metacello, I really find these tools excellent and a huge improvement :) really cool to see all these GitHub account and smalltalk code. So I continue to learn :) To give an idea of what I want, see the joined pic (and I tried to restrain myself not loading too many cool packages ^_^). I also decided to create baseline subclasses to manage windows and unixes distributions. (pharoconsole --version) I've seen this just once on Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bit), but wasn't able to reproduce it, and think it was a more recent VM than the current stable version. Thanks, Alistair

This is the original issue that fixed this in Pharo7: https://pharo.fogbugz.com/f/cases/21124/FFI-should-work-without-the-sources And here the PR with the fix: https://github.com/pharo-project/pharo/pull/739 There are a couple of more changes there, but not so many.

Ok, thanks for this crucial information! Would backporting be as simple as filing out the class and the single method from Pharo7 and filing in in Pharo6.1 ? (probably not) I could also move y application to Pharo 7, but sofar I havenât been able to load Roassal2 in Pharo 7 (32bit). Any information on how to achieve this (on windows)? No Moose 7.0 image with Roassal preloaded available either, AFAIK... This is solved in Pharo7 thanks to Vincent Blondeau by embedding argument names into the method (and thus not requiring source code anymore). If you need it, you can take the FFICompilerPlugin class + (RBMethodNode>>ensureCachedArgumentNames) from Pharo7 and try to backport them on your Pharo6 installation. Not necessarily unreadable, but I always find the UIManager & co. very confusing. If you want unreadable code, then look at SpecInterpreter which is responsible for building all Spec ui... 139 lines of code and so far I've probably spent an hour per every five lines of code trying to comprehensively understand this... Maybe useful... some months ago I've reimplemented FAME's links (and added support for ToOne, etc.) https://github.com/openponk/synchronized-links I wanted to add supports for slots, but didn't get around to it yet... but maybe it will be easier to adapt this than to rewrite everything from scratch. Still, in Pharo6 the absense of changes and sources files means also that FFI calls cannot be done. UFFI uses the method source code to map arguments, and if no source code is available, FFI calls cannot be resolved. This is solved in Pharo7 thanks to Vincent Blondeau by embedding argument names into the method (and thus not requiring source code anymore). If you need it, you can take the FFICompilerPlugin class + (RBMethodNode>>ensureCachedArgumentNames) from Pharo7 and try to backport them on your Pharo6 installation.
