Hi, just saw this. Smallkanren is complete and under very active development, I just haven't put a new version up in a while because I didn't think that anyone was using it. I'm currently cleaning up a new release and was planning to upload that in the next few days. It should have full support for all the core functions and a better interface, in addition to being much faster. As far as the matter of real world vs academic exercise, I think I might say rather that it has not *yet* been as thoroughly developed and proven as prolog. It is, after all, a much newer language by almost a half century. However, it forms the basis of clojure's core.logic library, and has been seeing an increasing amount of deployment in real world projects in that area (configuration, parsing, test generation sorts of things I think). I'd like to enable the same in Pharo. If anyone is interested to know more, feel free to get in touch. Why not just UUIDGenerator default next hex asUppercase. Or even UUID new hex asUppercase. ? Since you are using #generateBytes:forVersion: (which is an internal method BTW), you must be working in an older Pharo image (older than 6). UUIDGenerator default generateBytes: x forVersion: 4. s := String new: 32. aStream := WriteStream on: s. x do: [ :each | aStream nextPut: (hex at: each // 16 + 1). aStream nextPut: (hex at: each \\ 16 + 1) ]. ^ s Works like a charm. Hello, Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but I know of two experiments with logic/relational programming in Pharo: - SmallKanren: http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~EvanDonahue/SmallKanren/ - MicroKanren: http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~adolfopa/MicroKanren/ Both are inspired/based on minikanren (http://minikanren.org/) which is an embedded DSL for logic programming with implementations in multiple languages. Both implementations above are incomplete, but of the two, I'd say SmallKanren is the most complete and most promising. Development seems a bit inactive, however. Minikanren in general seems to be more of an academic project than one with real-world application, which is a big downside. Well, that is the question to the author of original script - Peter Uhnak. The goal is to avoid contacting server (takes alot of time and blocks the image) every time you save a package to a filetree repo. As I understand repositories in question are kind of special and are always checked, so removing them solves the problem. Please check that the file is named properly and is in the same directory as this image." Autoformatting in SystemBrowser

Hello, since Pharo6 my method comments in the SystemBrowser gets automatically removed. My arguments get also removed, so when I type: SomeClass >> name: aString "sets the name instance variable" name := aString it gets corrected to: SomeClass >> name: arg1 name := arg1 How can I configure this behaviour? Anonymous classes performances

I have been playing a bit with anonymous subclasses, and instances of anon subclasses seem slower to execute code than "regular" subclasses instances, but sometimes they reach equivalent performances (for code defined in anon-subclasses). I don't understand why. I have a class A with a method m. B is subclass of A with a new method m1. Anon-A is an anonymous class of A which also implements the m1 method. I did various tests of speed and: - when executing m, compiled in A, instances of Anon-A are around 10% slower than instances of B - when executing m1, compiled in B and in Anon-A, performances are equivalent between instances of B and of anon-A Is that a particular behavior of anonymous subclasses, like their instances can easily find behavior defined in their class but have to perform extra-work to find methods defined in their superclass (which is not anonymous) ? Is that vm related ? Other ? Steven.

Can not save the source file

Hello, when I open up my Pharo6.0 image and left+click > save as... to save my image, Pharo tells me that it could no save the source file.
