Linux kernel 4.11 introduced statx(), which adds creation time, but I don't know if it will be adopted by BSD or MacOS. The patches I mentioned earlier and plan for Pharo 7 add support for all 4 timestamps (creation, change, modification, access). Which fields get populated depends on the platform. There's a #hasCreationTime flag which allows you to distinguish between the real creation time and the change time. Cheers, Alistair

Interesting. Auto-complete doesn't show #removeAttribute: as an option. Another question: After I've logged out, I can still click on Backpage in the browser to get to a page that should no longer be authorized. Is there a way to prevent this? Is there a way to invalidate the page? Hi, there was an issue with presumably gitfiletree, that when checking a code against its repo (to commit or show changes), every single repository would be refreshed, which took quite a while (on the order of seconds to tens of seconds, but it was quite annoying as it happened frequently).. so as I don't need the repos unless I am fixing the bug, I removed them... I don't use it in Pharo 6 as I haven't experienced the issue there, but I am using Iceberg now, so maybe that is the reason. You might also like to look at the FileSystemVisitor class and subclasses. Currently you can't strictly do a "-type f" test. The closest at the moment is "isDirectory" and "isDirectory not" (which is what #isFile is defined as). I've got some patches lined up which will allow you to test things like #isRegular (which matches "-type f"), #isSymlink, etc. But it will be a while before they become available as it involves a new VM plugin. Hi Hilaire, I confirmed this on Squeak, and added a new test based on your example. The test is at http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/squeak-dev/2017-June/194766.html, and the fix is http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/squeak-dev/2017-June/194767.html I did not check a Pharo image, but I expect is the same issue for both Pharo and Squeak. The problem is that PNGReadWriter is making 4 byte large integers, then passing them as parameters to a primitive. On 64-bit Spur images, the large integers need to be normalized to turn them into immediate short integers prior to calling the primitive. This is a simple change to four methods so you can patch your image locally to confirm the fix. Hi Stephane, Yes it seems to be an issue with the sources file. Maybe my workflow is wrong? When I want to store an image somewhere else, I always left+click and select save as... to save my image. As far as I understand Pharo, it then saves the image and a changes file in the selected directory. The sources file should stay in the Pharo distribution folder, under the share directory, shouldn't it? The sources file is present in my share folder, I don't know why Pharo looks into pharo6.0-64/bin/lib/pharo/5.0- 201705310241/ (that's the path from the error message). ...BTW I'm wondering why the mailing list sends my mails as .eml attachments? As a matter of fact, if I drop the original PNG picture in the 64bits image , it is decoded fine (I am not sure however both the png file and the bytearray are exactly the same) It may seems the problem comes from the Byte array representation, just blind guess. I know file system commands could be executed using the OS wrappers. HernÃ¡n, We obviously don't have as many options as find, but this should get you started: Check the category 'enumerating' in AbstractFileReference, with methods like #childrenMatching: and #allChildrenMatching: Once you have a reference, you can use other meta data, see the 'accessing' protocol to further your query. I spent my day testing and comparing execution speed between classes and anonymous subclasses when i tried to compare two sets of values between pharo classes: they also differ. In fact it seems that every instruction has a different execution speed if we run it enough times. So it seems impossible to precisely compare execution time between anon classes and pharo classes, at least i don't know how to do it. I computed confidence intervals of various measures, the differences in execution time that exist between classes and anonymous classes can be between -2% to + 9%. But comparing sets of speed between pharo classes, i also have similar intervals (but smaller, from -2% speed to +5% speed). So maybe they have similar performances, at least sometimes they do and sometimes one is slightly faster than the other, but in the end it is not possible to tell. But maybe i'm looking for something which does not even exist, maybe anonymous classes are designed to be as fast as regular classes ? Or maybe it is common to have such variability when benchmarking code ? Does it exist any instruction in pharo with a constant execution time ? I'm currently cleaning up a new release and was planning to upload that in the next few days. It should have full support for all the core functions and a better interface, in addition to being much faster. As far as the matter of real world vs academic exercise, I think I might say rather that it has not *yet* been as thoroughly developed and proven as prolog. It is, after all, a much newer language by almost a half century. However, it forms the basis of clojure's core.logic library, and has been seeing an increasing amount of deployment in real world projects in that area (configuration, parsing, test generation sorts of things I think). Hello, Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but I know of two experiments with logic/relational programming in Pharo: - SmallKanren: http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~EvanDonahue/SmallKanren/ - MicroKanren: http://smalltalkhub.com/#!/~adolfopa/MicroKanren/ Both are inspired/based on minikanren (http://minikanren.org/) which is an embedded DSL for logic programming with implementations in multiple languages. Both implementations above are incomplete, but of the two, I'd say SmallKanren is the most complete and most promising. Development seems a bit inactive, however. Minikanren in general seems to be more of an academic project than one with real-world application, which is a big downside. Well, that is the question to the author of original script - Peter Uhnak. The goal is to avoid contacting server (takes alot of time and blocks the image) every time you save a package to a filetree repo. As I understand repositories in question are kind of special and are always checked, so removing them solves the problem. Autoformatting in SystemBrowser

Hello, since Pharo6 my method comments in the SystemBrowser gets automatically removed. My arguments get also removed, so when I type: SomeClass >> name: aString "sets the name instance variable" name := aString it gets corrected to: SomeClass >> name: arg1 name := arg1 How can I configure this behaviour? Anonymous classes performances

I have been playing a bit with anonymous subclasses, and instances of anon subclasses seem slower to execute code than "regular" subclasses instances, but sometimes they reach equivalent performances (for code defined in anon-subclasses). I don't understand why. I have a class A with a method m. B is subclass of A with a new method m1. Anon-A is an anonymous class of A which also implements the m1 method. I did various tests of speed and: - when executing m, compiled in A, instances of Anon-A are around 10% slower than instances of B - when executing m1, compiled in B and in Anon-A, performances are equivalent between instances of B and of anon-A Is that a particular behavior of anonymous subclasses, like their instances can easily find behavior defined in their class but have to perform extra-work to find methods defined in their superclass (which is not anonymous) ? Is that vm related ? Other ? Steven.

Can not save the source file

Hello, when I open up my Pharo6.0 image and left+click > save as... to save my image, Pharo tells me that it could no save the source file.
