Hi, Richard I think that there is possibility to create a more constructive conversation while promoting Pharo. Ben Coman has give his balanced view pairing constructive criticism with advice, Sven and Andrew have given some post examples, written by them, that help to give better coverage to Smalltalk and Pharo, while providing technical or factual accuracy. I don't think this needs to be a fight over style. Having a community that reads and criticize you is important and while you can keep your style and work, you could also see if some of those critics and advice can help you to improve as a writer. I'm not a native English speaker and having constant Ben's advice, proof reading and encouragement, for example, has been pretty worthy. I try to improve from the feedback I get from this (generally) supportive community. What is the point of writing, reading and talking then, if we're not willing to change? I applied the solution of Sven over a minimal image of Pharo and it works! I created a script to disable the calls to sources and changes and then I deleted those. Deploying using the minimal image of Pharo

Hi, In in the past days, in the context of the Smalltalks 2017 conference, I talked about my attempt <https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1CEyubkv1DT7kQi3oDpHoYWnbeR5YZKhX-mV…> to deploy on production using the minimal image of Pharo . My goal was prepare an inmutable or staless minimal image for deploy, without sources nor changes files. The results are exposed in this tutorial <https://github.com/despotadesdibujau/southsmalltalks/blob/master/docs/how-t…> . The size of the image is 16 MB and it has loaded Seaside. Just I have a pendeing issue: the staless image but everything else is done and working.

If you stored the settings without full screen mode checked, start up Pharo, then switch in into full screen mode, it should run at full performance if Iâm right. I have an intel integrated card + an NVidia, it can work in either mode or in Optimus mode, where it only goes into NVidia if an app requests it or goes full screen. Pharo is very quick in full screen as a result, since I run it in Optimus mode (Linux has issues with the windowing system using the NVidia drivers in normal mode). Since Pharo uses SDL2 for the base graphic subsystem, which is one of the main gaming graphics platforms, it wouldnât be surprising if Wayland assumed it was a game if it starts full screen, and intel graphics arenât all that great for gaming (so Iâve heard â I have an Xbox with one game â FIFA, lol). Yes, I've even cited your excellent "Elegant Pharo Code" article on several occasions. Okay, perhaps I'm wrong about the number of pageviews. Nevertheless, prior to my campaign, hardly anyone talked about Smalltalk. That was my essential point. By the way, I am gratified that at Medium, I have nearly 1,900 followers. I realize that's not a huge number, since many other Medium authors have tens of thousands of followers, but it's far above the average. That means I have considerable reach. This is as if you typed 'Date today' at the beginning of next January 1st in your timezone or mine. Both print as '1 January 2018'. In some sense they are equal (the abstract, context free view), but as a timespan [start,stop] interval they are different, they do not include the same points in time. By having the timezone in there, the ambiguity is resolved. That is because the exact start moment is different: { (DateAndTime fromString: '2018/01/01T00:00:00+11') asUTC. (DateAndTime fromString: '2018/01/01T00:00:00+01') asUTC }. BTW, my ZTimestamp package is an alternative DateAndTime object that is (1) always in UTC, and thus contains no timezone and (2) has second precision. It is half the size and faster to work with. By using its accompanying ZTimezone class that loads the Olsen DB, you do the necessary conversions when presenting to humans. That of course then requires the context (current or applicable timezone) to be supplied externally. (ZTimezone id: 'Australia/Sydney') gmtToLocal: ZTimestamp now.
