Deployment pharo with multiple instances and voyage

Hi! Iâm close to deploy a web service using Pharo with Voyage and MongoDB. I have been playing with it and everything works ok with a single Pharo image. Couple of days ago I started questioning myself about how voyage behaves when you have multiple pharo images using the same mongo database (horizontal scaling). I want to know how the cache of voyage behaves in a scenario with object updates. Example: ââââââââââââââ Imagine I have two images A and B. - Image A query for object o and voyage put it in the cache. - Image B query for object o and voyage put it in the cache. - Image A updates object o and push it into the database calling #save. - Image B query for object o that should be already in the cache. In this case, does Image B see the changes performed by image A? ââââââââââââââ All ideas are welcome :) Thanks and cheers! Alejandro

Code loading/unloading order

It is not documented. What happens when I load a package? Are all classes created first, and then methods are added, or classes are loaded one-by-one with all their methods? What about Slots? Are they added to classes after all classes are loaded? Do they have their methods by that time? What is order of loading of classes? Alphabetical, or using some resolution mechanism, or is it implementation detail? What happens when I unload the package? No, Eve is not "attempt to bring Literate Programming to the masses". It is an attempt at making programming daily tasks and small tools a lot simpler and easier, expecially for non-programmers (scientists, analysts, etc.). It took many forms in the past, including visual coding, Excel-like tables, etc. I don't know if its current form will be the final one. Foundations of Eve's current form are storing all data in a global relational database in form of tuples (records) and reactive programming. This greatly simplifies a lot of things, but I guess the performance cost will be great too. I completely agree with Sanjay that visibility of inherited methods and protocols is vital for several reasons: * The interface of the class I am editing includes all of its inherited methods. * If i want to over-ride a method, I would like to start from its source code. * I need to see the exact list of superclass protocols, so I can create a new method in the correct one. >From memory, when you edited an inherited method in dolphin, it asked you if you wanted to save it in the currently implementing class, or the currently browsed class. An information field near the the source source pane is sufficient to indicate the signature of the method selected like: MyClass class >> #myMethod. It isn't necessary to crowd the method selector list with class names. Greying-out the inherited methods worked as an indicator. You also need the ability to view inherited methods up-to but not including a superclass - so that you can filter out methods of little contextual interest. I would probably use Jupyter through Atlas from Pharo. I think Grafoscopio may be the Pharo tool that is closest to this approach, so give it a try and assist the main developer to improve it. Personally I am more a visual coding guy which is what I am currently investigating and coding for.
