Adopting someone else's image

Hi, I am having a problem using an image that was saved by a different user on a different machine. I'm trying to get started with PharoJS and have downloaded the Pharo 4.0 image from https://pharojs.github.io/faq.html#demoEsug2016. When I load the image Spotter raises errors becasue it holds on to a FileSystem object that holds a path within the previous user's local home directory. When I use Montichello browser to export the packages I need to disk or online repository, I get Error: RemoteString past end of file errors - I think this is because Montichello tries to read the changes file and cannot. What can I do? Is there a proper way to re-initialize the host dependent state when taking over someone else's image? Talking about javascript , I have been taking a look at the new chat channel I created at Discord for Pharo, Discord has a node.js API for creating plugins, was wondering how well PharoJS works with Node.js and if I can use it for this scenario . So as I promised tonight I will share a live screencast about creating GUIs with Pharo, that includes UIManager , Morphic and a bit of Spec. The focus will be mainly Morphic that I am more familiar with. Hi, so in Pharo 5 CriticBrowser does not care about #checksClass, #checksMethod and so on. I am changing this in Pharo 6, but I didnât have enough time for Pharo 5. For CriticBrowser you need to override instance-side methods #checkClass: or #checkMethod:. In your case you want to override #checkMethod: and if you detect a critique you need to do: `result addMethod: yourMethodObject`. Hello Hi All ... reposting with some changes in the requirement, I am looking for a Pharo + Seaside Consultant / Guide to help re-develop our business applications in Pharo+Seaside (+Web Stack +Postgres/Sqlite). The person can work from where-ever on any convenient basis. The consultant has to architect, design and develop the base application framework, i.e.the foundation classes (the abstract classes) alongwith a sample implementation and then guide junior teams to reuse these classes into the complete application. The applications to be developed / transformed can be seen at http://www.minisoftindia.com/products, and most have been in use for years. (the ones shown on the website are on a dated desktop platform, though developed somewhat in an object-oriented style) The application behaviour of current applications on our site can be used as a reference, but these are to be totally transformed in style and behavior for a web based applications. Skills required would be Overall web based application design, UI design (including for mobile), Database interface design and communication over the Web. The database server itself will be a separately hosted server to be interfaced to apllications on different physical server. The database and data structures are mostly in place and that side we can handle ... all the applications are currently running robustly. Our guess is that there would be around say 20 abstract classes each with a a coulple of sample subclass implementations to be done in an over time frame. This is a commercial arrangement for a flat fee and if you are interested interested may please drop a mail to info(a)minisoftindia.com. Sorry for the delay in answering - I've been buried in this project. That is the idea, though as Ben pointed out, not using Cogit initially particularly when moving to Sparc, reduces the complexity, so one step at a time. The x86 version with Cogit is nearly debugged and will initially be used for a project where I have written code (already tested on Oracle Linux 7.2) to monitor BGP events on Cisco aggregated service routers (ASR9010's) to track dynamic topology changes. We're deploying the first version on surplus Sun x4140 12 core / 24 thread x86 servers, and the later Sparc version to handle more routers on surplus T5120 / T5220 machines. The reason for the use of Solaris and surplus Sun machines is a combination of keeping the cost down while supporting the throughput rates - ASR9010's generate an average of 57m BGP events / minute, and the API is straight XML. We eventually need to monitor ~200 ASR's.
