Hi Torsten, Thanks for the feedback. I have been pushed to make it public right before ESUG. I'm trying my best to make it clean and documented. If you are using a Mac, the examples I provide on http://car.mines-douai.fr/pharojs/ <http://car.mines-douai.fr/pharojs/> should work out of the box. For other platforms (Windows & Linux) I need the command line to open a web browser on a specific URL. Any hint? Regarding the naming PharoJS is more than a bridge. PharoJS Documentation

Hi, I started a documentation on how to use PharoJS at http://car.mines-douai.fr/pharojs/. So, far it covers: - download/ install, - evaluate expressions in the PharoJS workspace and see them perform on a web browser - running tests in Pharo (e.g. using the plain TestRunner) that perform some code on a web browser. PharoJS is a Pharo -> JavaScript compiler. It also features a support for websocket in order to maintain a connection to a web browser within Pharo. Pretty cool stuff! I fixed the file, now we should wait for the continous integration server. If you want to fix it locally, just go to phratch directory, in locale directory, open the es.po with a text editor. search for $Strings$, and replace it with $String$. Just remove the s in fact. After that, it will work. Well, the procedure we made in both cases was the same. Went to download page, download the proper package for each platform and with the previous one, operators didn't work but on this they do. I don't know if is possible to see details on each version by going to the underlaying system. Finally we detected what was going on: The operators don't work if we change the language interface to Spanish. If I can help with any test or details, let me know. Hi guys, It is a project from Noury - at the Mines school. Just do a google for Noury and PharoJs I found out about it from Torsten's blog - always worth reading :-) AIUI, what it does is convert Pharo code - in the fly - to JavaScript. I can't say much more because I haven't got it to run. However, it is on small talk hub, so ease give it a go.

Hi all, Today we started to use phratch to a group of people without much of any experience with computer programming. The idea is to have a workshop today and tomorrow start with more symbolic and abstract approach using Pharo and give them a taste of the several levels of programmig and exploration this environment provides. But my main problem is that operators dont work on Phratch. We get a MNU as soon as we select the operators button which is a real stoper for any advance stuff. We're using the currently available package from the download page. Can somebody help me on this? Also: Â¿How can we erase a line drawn with the pencil on the background? What is PharoJS ? Are you talking about Pharo on top of the Bert's SqueakJS VM ? If so, it starts, but some primitives fail making it freeze after a short while as you describe. Copy-Paste form external sources does not work on Windows 8.1

Hi dear all, I am currently taking a couple of tutorials on Pharo and I noticed that cutting and pasting code snippets from the web, pdf, notepad, ... to Pharo 4.0 was not working on my Windows 8.1 installation. I double checked that versions 3.0 and current 5.0 exhibited the same behavior on 8.1.I double-checked this problem does not manifest on Windows 7. Am I the only one to experience it?Thanks in advance,Â Dominique

Markus, If you read the messages in this thread, you can see that it has been more or less solved. 'More or less' because Pharo runs fine now, but when I reboot Ubuntu I get a systemerror with as subject Pharo-vm. This has been probably caused by my different attempts to make this work (with different methods) which may have left some 'rubble' causing this. I should probably re-install Ubuntu soon. Which I do now and then anyway. Searching for similiar projects

Hello :D I am a newbie in Pharo and have started to build my first application i.e. an offline text search application namely *searchQuick* which returns the list of file titles from the pre-loaded text files present in the resource folder when a string is searched for. You all are welcome to fork the code (https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new) , try the infancy application and send in suggestions. Further, I would like to request to put up my application on the CI Automated Build server for Pharo. I have already registered on INRIA and my request to join 'Pharo Contribution' has also been approved. Further, I am searching for similiar projects as sQuick so that it would be easier to put for automated build using the existing build. Saving image sometimes corrupts it

Hello I come with another probably-only-mine-windows-related problem which I am unable to reproduce from a clean image. I use latest image 50170, latest (9th July 2015) Windows VM, Windows 7 64bit. So there is my vague description: When I load some project, modify it few times and save it, then SOMETIMES (seems random to me) when I try to open this saved image, it immediately crashes VM and does not even produce crash.dmp file (well, it creates it, but empty). For example, I have such image... I save it, do not close it, try to open it, crash, save it again, try to open it, it runs, save it again, close, try to open it, crash. Without any change inside the image by my hand. I tried doing something similar with clean image, but it never corrupted it. I am unable to open such image even on my Linux machine. SubscriptOutOfBounds: 0 in blocks evaluating nil

Hi, I'm experiencing an issue when using whileFalse:, in Pharo 4. I've just looking for opened bugs in pharo.fogbugz.com but I don't see any matching my problem, apparently. In the following example, I get a SubscriptOutOfBounds: 0. Object subclass: #WhileFalseIssue instanceVariableNames: 'myFlag' classVariableNames: '' category: 'MyTests' WhileFalseIssue>>attemptUninitialized [ myFlag ] whileFalse: [myFlag := true ]. ^ myFlag. WhileFalseIssue>>attemptInitialized myFlag := false. [ myFlag ] whileFalse: [myFlag := true ]. ^ myFlag. Calling attempt like this: WhileFalseIssue new attemptUninitialized. launches the debugger with "SubscriptOutOfBounds: 0" (see attached screenshot), whereas WhileFalseIssue new attemptInitialized. works fine. Hi, Marcus started to go in this direction (CoverageStyler). With MetaLinks we will be able to do that soon quite easily. I'm currently working on per-method coverage testing of the minimal Pharo - mainly because we need to know what tests that we already have need to be moved to this image. However in this case I export coverage result in form of one huge JSON document that will be processed by a single HTML page with a simple Smalltalk-like browser (with colored rows etc.). Hi, The default search options that come with GTSpotter are nice, but the power of a moldable tool like GTSpotter stems from how it can be extended by external packages. To get an idea of how this works in practice, you can find an example of how to make GTSpotter to extend the search through files with the ability of diving in an XML file in the XMLParser project. Hello, I don't know if this is the problem. But in your example I do not see sudo apt-get dist-upgrade which might be necessary to install the libraries after the update. You might have actually did dist-upgrade or upgrade and just didn't put it in the email. Or maybe the install pharo-launcher does all of that. Here is the script I use to install Pharo. I do not at this time use Pharo-Launcher. No particular reason. troubles with JNIPort on Pharo 5 / Java 8

Hi, I am having trouble running JNIPort with Pharo 5 and Java 8 on Mac OS X 10.10.4. The code loads fine: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'JNIPort' project: 'JNIPort'; configuration; loadVersion: '3.0-alpha'. However, I do not know where to point "JNIPortJNIInterface libraryFile:" to. In the original instructions for Java 1.6, the code looked like: JNIPortJNIInterface libraryFile: '/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Libraries/libclient.dylib' With JDK 1.8 (and even 1.7), the file organization seems to be different and the libclient.dylib does not exist. I tried to point it to libjli.dylib, which looks similar, but that does not seem to work: JNIPortJNIInterface libraryFile: '/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_45.jdk/Contents/MacOS/libjli.dylib'. NativeBoost and variadic functions

Hello, Is it possible with NativeBoost to create a binding for a variadic function ? I've seen the printf example in NBCPrinter but this implementation is kind of cheating since it always pass just a %s as format and one already formatted string to the C function. I just added the class side information to my metacello configuration in order to have it displayed better in the pharo catalog. In the pharo catalog it says that my package (mustache) has not been tagged for pharo 5.0. I don't know how this information is derived. And I cannot see a meta repo for pharo 5.0 where I can put the configuration. Has this process changed. Are there any pointers I can get information about. Thanks Norbert

Request to put up my under-development application for automated build

Hello All :) I am a newbie in Pharo and have started to build my first application i.e. an offline text search application namely *searchQuick* which returns the list of file titles from the pre-loaded text files present in the resource folder when a string is searched for. You all are welcome to fork the code (https://github.com/jig08/sQuick_new) , try the infancy application and send in suggestions. Further, I would like to request to put up my application on the CI Automated Build server for Pharo. Kindly guide me on how to go about it. In regular machines, this is not a problem but they are some scenarios where it shows it weakness. We are working on enhance the performance of our tools. Hi, thanks for all these explanations. I tested the versions you mentioned below with both Pharo and Squeak. Squeak-GUI (4.6) seems still to be three times faster than Pharo's GUI (5.0) - but actually it's at least a Pharo version which has an acceptable speed. However, I can never reproduce anything when I try. Either nothing bad happens either Pharo tells me it cannot write in a read-only file. Another thing I don't understand is that I have two images that come from the same initial one but there is never any mention of a quit and / or startup in the .changes file.
