Athens question: AffineTransform, AthensCairoMatrix and Float values

Hi, We are integrating Athens transformation to Roassal2/Trachel and I have reached an issue. In drawing code I use something like this: -=-=-=- athensCanvas pathTransform restoreAfter: [ athensCanvas pathTransform multiplyBy: matrix; âan instance of AthensAffineTransform" athensCanvas setPaint: color; drawShape: self path. -=-=-=- I have a problem, that sometimes it crashes because it expects a float value (I understand why). I suppose I do not have to keep float values in AthensAffineTransform object. My suggestion is to ensure float values where it is expected. For example the method #loadAffineTransform could be like this: -=-=-=- AthensCairoMatrix>>loadAffineTransform: m self initx: m x asFloat y: m y asFloat sx: m sx asFloat sy: m sy asFloat shx: m shx asFloat shy: m shy asFloat -=-=-=- Right now I have to do that transformation myself whenever I use Athens objects. I see it error prone and I do not see it obvious. On other hand I do not want to keep float values in my AthensAffineTransform, because if user do #scaleBy: 0.7 and then #scaleBy: (1/0.7) I want to get the same original value. Otherwise the image could change its size. The same change could be for other methods in AthensCairoMatrix. What do you think? Juraj

Hi, As exposed, the problem is that maintaining several themes is a lot of work. So unless there are maintainers, our tendency will be always to reduce the amount of them in the image, and try to maintain one that fits most of our UI needs. One of our concerns now, more than maintaining the themes, is to do steps to make theming easier (then others can do themes and maintain them outside the image). For iStoa I need to rescale the view when the VM window is resized. Hello, The right way to get it back is through an external package, as suggested and did Thierry, then maintain it as external. Personnaly I like to use Watery on Linux. Okey so I have found the Class instance that was holding onto the data. I can now save my image after a parsing without tripling its size. But the VM's memory footprint (according to Windows task manager) does not falls back to normal after a parse. My guess is that now that the VM was allocated more space, it juste doesn't give it back. It still bugs me a little since I can see the memory occupied by the VM drop when minimised in the task bar. > If you want to use a huge data structure, you have to think carefully > about your representations. It's about not erasing a theme, not working on it. Making a theme work consistently is a huge amount of work. We have not finished making one of them work. Iâm in favor of finishing one theme before spending time on other themeâs. Stephan
