Please port external libraries & frameworks to Pharo 3.0 NOW !

Dear fellow Pharoers, Pharo 2.0 was released in March 2013, after which development of Pharo 3.0 started. Since December 2013 we stopped adding new features and started concentrating on fixing bugs. We plan to release Pharo 3.0 in March 2014. You can help: please port external libraries & frameworks to Pharo 3.0 NOW, before it is released, not after. You can help us tremendously by doing this. Together we can improve the quality and polish for a great release. Today we already have quite some external libraries, frameworks and applications running successfully in Pharo 3, among them large ones like Moose (https://ci.inria.fr/moose/job/moose-5.0/) and Seaside (https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/job/Seaside/) But we need more and we need people collaborating, because real life projects have lots of dependencies that need to be available. Luckily there is a CI infrastructure available to help you. You should also follow some conventions to fit into the ecosystem. - have good unit tests - use Monticello for source code management - store code publicly, preferably at http://www.smalltalkhub.com/ - use Metacello for package and configuration management - add your configuration where the configuration browser can find it, at least in http://www.smalltalkhub.com/mc/Pharo/MetaRepoForPharo30/main - use the CI infrastructure at https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/ For example, Neo-CSV, can be loaded in Pharo 3.0 using its Metacello configuration with just one click on 'Install Stable Version': The code lives in various repositories, including on StHub, at http://www.smalltalkhub.com/#!/~SvenVanCaekenberghe/Neo There is a CI job checking all unit tests each time either Pharo 2.0, Pharo 3.0 or the library code changes, https://ci.inria.fr/pharo-contribution/job/NeoCSV/ and reporting all failures immediately. You can test both stable and development (or bleedingEdge) versions for a real build matrix. And there is external documentation, https://github.com/svenvc/docs/blob/master/neo/neo-csv-paper.md ;-) Even if you are not the original author, but just a user of (a) particular package(s), it would be useful if you tried loading the package(s) you need and see if all is well. For example, if you do not record with sound, you want to add notes. I saw several videos with notes being added to the workspace. This looks clumsy. It would better to ask these Seaside related questions on the Seaside user list since this mailing list here is the general list for Pharo users and your question is more related to web development and Seaside. So please ask you question on the following mailinglist http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside JQuery Mobile for Seaside may not have been updated yet since Seaside 3.1. is very new. Last demo of JQM I know of is http://jquerymobile.seasidehosting.st and it is running on 3.0. BTW: there is also a Seaside developer list which is for people who want to contribute to Seaside itself http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/seaside-dev Maybe you also want to have a loook at my Bootstrap project for Seaside these days as it wraps Twitter bootstrap which is also "mobile first" these days. Sample and link to the project can be found at: http://pharo.pharocloud.com If you want to run it locally just use a fresh Pharo 3.0 image (get.pharo.org or files.pharo.org) and load it from the config browser (World menu -> config browser -> Bootstrap). a BitSet class

Hi Stef, Â I checked with the downloadable PDF fromÂ http://www.deepintopharo.com/ some examples are not covered, like #bitAt:put: message or the C abbreviations | and &,Â bitXor: is also missing from a first short look. I also havent seen examples with different base. Â Feel free to add them since I have no glue how to add something to the books... Â Thx T.

Bug in JQMHtmlRoot>>CloseOn ?

Hi Smalltalkers, I am new to this list. Just downloadad and started Pharo Seaside-3.1-OneClick under Linux in order to get my hands on jquery mobile development. As the documentations suggest I first performed: Gofer it url: 'http://ss3.gemstone.com/ss/jQueryMobile'; package: 'ConfigurationOfJQueryMobile'; load. ConfigurationOfJQueryMobile loadBleedingEdge. Now when I direct my browser to "http://localhost:8080/javascript/jquery-mobile/" it displays the error: "MessageNotUnderstood: WADefaultScriptGenerator>>close:on:pageId:" I was curious and modified JQMHtmlRoot>>closeOn: in the debugger like this: closeOn: aDocument "aDocument scriptGenerator >> I did comment this 2 lines close: self on: aDocument pageId: self pageId." self writeFootOn: aDocument and it works, I can browse thru the JQMobile examples now. However, I guess this is not really the way to go. Comments or advices anybody? Juergen
