There's a direct train from Paris CDG airport to Lille. It's usually more
complex to go from brussels airport to Lille.
There's an airport in Lille but there's very few flights from there (only
to Marseilles and Porto AFAIK).

In the PBE example, and CrossMorph is created. As can be seen from its name, It is has a cross shape.
When one adds keyboard handling to move it about, it seems the compositor thinks it is opaque, and doesnât repaint the ânot crossâ areas with whatever is behind the morph.
The result is the shape smears across the screen.
This only occurs when moving exactly horizontally or vertically.
Iâve been looking over the Morph API but canât detect a method like #opaque: or #translucent: or similar.
Is this a bug, or am I missing the correct way to deal with transparent/irregular shaped morphs?

i don't have any mockups. the UI is very simple.
in the final version i expect the following:
some intro text about the application,
a search-box and a selection of categories,
a directory to browse the contained documents without searching.
when pharo starts, this should come up automatically, and any development tools
should be invisible. in part that means, the world menu should be hidden and
only accessible through a keyboard shortcut, or ideally only available when
pharo is started with an extra commandline argument (eg --devmode)
the user can then browse the documents or search.
search results should be a long scroll-list and clicking on a result should
expand the document at the location where the term was found, allowing to
scroll back and forth from that point.
the initial version will only support plain text, but future versions may
support html text to allow for cross-links in documents.
a generic use-case would be something like an encyclopedia. it has lots of
articles in various categories, and it makes sense to deliver it as a complete
application with all assets contained in the image.
there is also a mobile component which is essentially the same idea but
designed for a mobile phone. this is currently being worked on using
javascript/phonegap to be cross-platform.
i don't know if pharo can run on a mobile phone. i'll explore that when the
desktop app is functional.

that is good to know. it is an interesting project. i didn't see much traffic
in the google group, and with the website down and no updates to the code on
github for years or visible release announcements it is difficult to get a good
impression.
what is missing to get the website back up? just a host?

Hi everybody,
thank you St-Jean, Stephane and Guillermo.
Iâve been trying to get it working for the last two days. My last action today was to finally compile OpenDBX myself, as all the evidence seemed to suggest that somehow it must be a/the wrong version of whatever MySQL client lib I used (or MariaDB client). In the end I always got a crash after trying to disconnect. If I was lucky and everything was fresh I might have been able to query something, but somehow the image ârememberedâ that I did something to it, donât know (I mean even not by saving the image).
Now with the current version of 1.4.6 of OpenDBX and the original MySQL connector/C version 6.1.5, with the current Moose 5.0 image (Pharo 3.0), I can connect, disconnect and query as it should be.
But :(, if I did at least one connect/disconnect and then close the image (with or without saving), I get an âMicrosoft Visual C++ Runtime Libraryâ Runtime error, thus Pharo doesnât end correctly. So far I just tried to get some more information by attaching the Visual Studio debugger to the process and it seems that the last thing before the error is the libmysqlbackend-1.dll unloading.
Depends-x86 shows no special missing dlls, just one marked red âc:\windows\system32\API-MS-WIN-CORE-SYNCH-L1-1-0.DLLâ and three others not being found. But at least the latter ones are normal and Pharo itself has these dependencies not being found.
The red one concerns âSleepConditionVariableCSâ, but I have no clue whether this is in any way important or meaningful in this context.
I just wonder if somebody of you guys has an idea now, as a crashing Pharo still has some bad taste to it.
One further thing I donât understand: After the creation of one DBXConnection and a subsequent connect message the system has two instances of DBXConnection in the system (via DBXConnection allInstances). Is this ok? Why? I tried to step through all the creation code, but somehow didnât find or missed the creation of the second instance (probably somewhere in âplatform createConnectionâ). Also every time I get back into the image and connect/disconnect again I got two more instances. Shouldnât they get garbage collected?
And last, but not least, even though this should probably belong into the Moose 5.0 thread, but Iâm not sure I miss something. In a fresh Moose 5 image I wasnât able to call code with fresh variables in the Playground, due to a class WorkspaceVariable missing. So I changed

Can you share with us how did you download the OpenDBX package in Pharo, and the OpenDBX and Mysql libraries (and each of their versions).

So which versions of the lib and others are you using?
I also had to work around (fix would be the wrong word) a problem that when the DBX code tried to get the column names; after the first column somehow odbx_column_name from the C-Api returns NULL or NB creates a nil from that call, so that the following readString send fails. Again because this happens somehow at the C side of things I couldnât (or didnât know how to) look further in the debugger.
