Hi Markus, Yes, that's the one. I did send you the answer but my post was rejected by the mailing list. However I see it didn't take you long :-) I find that Regex library pretty marvellous tbh, one of the best bits of Smalltalk I've come across, and it's so damn fast that it's often better than anything specific I can write. Does Vassili Bykov hang around on any of these forums? Glad to hear is much better than I assumed. About iOS vs Androids, I have both. Each one focus on different things. Neither really excites personally. Help needed -- Pharo 2.0 or 3.0 RFB-able image

Hi Guys, Not used Pharo for a while but getting back into it. I usually like to run images headless and VNC into them - means I can port them to any machines I choose. Having a real problem getting RFB working again. I tried loading various versions of from smalltalkhub: Gofer new smalltalkhubUser: 'PharoExtras' project: 'RFB'; package: 'ConfigurationOfRFB'; load. (ConfigurationOfRFB project version: '0.63') load. But no real success. Ok, I can cope with the fact the main VNC Server menu doesn't work (uses a presumably deprecated method) by invoking thus: RFBServer current stop; initializePreferences; configureForMemoryConservation; allowEmptyPasswords: false; setFullPassword: 'doer'; setViewPassword: 'viewer'; enableLogging: true; enableDebugging: true; allowZRLE: true; start: 0. I can *almost* get to this. TightVNC displays and crashes due to 'pseudo encoding -240' not being supported. UltraVNC will work, on some settings, but dragging a window will crash Pharo. Some socket error or other. I'm prepared to run Pharo 2.0 or 3.0, any VNC viewer at all, and any version of RFB that works ... anybody who can tell me a working configuration will be a lifesaver. I could, but if I do it before parsing, I only have to do the string replacement in one place. If I do it afterward, I have to apply it to every field separately which I think makes the code look messier. Anyway, I have tried applying it at the individual field level as a test but it didn't work there either. My primary concern at this point is just to get it working which has nothing to do with JSON at all, this is purely a string operation. Who says that programming in smalltalk is different from others ? You can write smalltalk with a simple Texteditor. However. I have written a simple program here , with smalltalk V 2.0 , 16bit 1. The programs name is : Prozentrechnung Only one class is the programm. Only one method is the program. ok. there could be more interdependencies such like "subroutines" not important for understanding 2. The method "startUpApplication" from the class "Notification" is responsible for opening the own programm. ( itself a class uhhhhhhhhh ) So the only thing you have to do is to tell the strartUpApplication method the program Name. here Prozentrechnung new open. thats all 3. Now you have to type a Method named open. for Notification to READ. 4. In most cases is is self and then the startmethod of your own program. Here in my program the Promter is asking first with a simple window to INPUT DATA ! Very simple and easy. I dont care about the endless procedures in other smalltalk implementations but one thing is shure . " i have opened that fucking thing here in smalltalk !
