Hello, Normally #copy should copy the AST. But it might not copy all the things related to start/stop. I think we should fix it to do that, too. You see, when I alpply deepCopy instead of copy, pharo image doesn't respond:) What I want is to get 100% independent new object ast2, with same caracteristics as ast1. P.S. Uko, thanks veryDeepCopy works. Read the comments to both methods but still confused why deepCopy didn't work.

Iâm not sure if this is a case, but there is deepCopy and veryDeepCopy, maybe you should take a look at that. Hi Ronie, Great that you work on a threaded FFI because it is a pain for some libraries. FFI ODBC for example, works very well but is not usable in real applications because of sql locks that locks the pharo vm. I don't like FFI too much, NativeBoost is much better, unfortunately I don't know about other libraries you are talking about (Alien, LowCode and UFFI), but if you achieve doing something better than NativeBoost, it will be a great thing. I wish you succeed. [Oharo-users] Copy AST

by Mark Rizun

Hi everyone, I want to get a deep copy of ast. But deepCopy doesn't work:) What I mean: | ast1 ast2 | ast1 := RBParser parseRewriteExpression: 'self'. ast2 := ast1 copy."or without copy" ast1 stop: 99. ast2 stop When evaluate this you get 99. I want it to be 4. So I want to have separate object ast2 with separate data, not depending on changes made in ast1. As I said deepCopy doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark

Start up actions

by PBKResearch

Hello I have a puzzle as to how to implement a start-up action. I would like to have a monitoring process running in the background while I am working on my project, and it would be easier if this process started up automatically when the image is loaded. I have hunted through my current image, and I have found three possibilities: a. Include a file named startup.st in the same folder as the image, and put a script to start the process in this file. b. Add a startup: method to the class controlling the background process, and do Smalltalk addToStartUpList: MyClass. c. Do Smalltalk addDeferredStartUpAction: [block which starts the process]. The first looks easiest, but it seems untidy to rely on having a separate file sored with the image. All these methods should work; is there any reason to prefer any one of them, or any other better method? Thanks in advance for any advice. Peter Kenny

Script as first class citizen

by Hilaire

Hello, Within DrGeo I would like to extend the capability of script. As for now, a script is just method user written method integrated in an existing DrGeoUserScript class. It is a very light implementation, and it makes it easy to export the script in the sketch (a XML file). However it is very limited as there are no way to provide type checking on the script argument, customized view for the script in the canvas, external support as comments, name scrip., etc. I will be curious to read about any opinion how to improve it. Thanks Hilaire -- Dr. Geo - http://drgeo.eu iStoa - http://istoa.drgeo.eu

embedding a viewer like Java / COM component could be attempted with Native Boost.. that is a framework creation effort. viz in Visualworks: | acrobatInterface arguments | acrobatInterface := COMDispatchDriver createObject: 'AcroExch.AVDoc'. arguments := Array new: 10 withAll: 0. arguments at: 1 put: 'fileName.pdf'; at: 2 put: self windowHandle; at: 3 put: 1. acrobatInterface invokeMethod: 'OpenInWindowEx' withArguments: arguments. acrobatInterface inspect used to work...if in Pharo we can get that capability.. it will be great for Windows apps.. for lot more than just PDF views It can cover MS Office / IE .. and tons more of capability.. Hi Sean, For rendering PDF documents, you could use Artefact ( https://sites.google.com/site/artefactpdf/ ) Best regards Olivier ;-) Le 4 nov. 2014 Ã 20:13, Sean P. Render PDF / Web Document in Pharo

by Sean P. DeNigris

Is it possible to display either in a Morphic world? As a start, even a non-interactive preview would be valuable... Thanks. ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/Render-PDF-Web-Document-in-Pharo-tp4788409.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

[ANN]: NewExternalWebBrowser

by Sean P. DeNigris

Not too long ago, someone requested the ability to open a URL in an external browser. Now that Pharo has NativeBoost, it seems we could implement ExternalWebBrowser much more simply. Here's a first commit for Mac OS X. Gofer it smalltalkhubUser: 'SeanDeNigris' project: 'SeansPlayground'; package: 'NewExternalWebBrowser'; load. 'http://google.com' asUrl open. ----- Cheers, Sean -- View this message in context: http://forum.world.st/ANN-NewExternalWebBrowser-tp4788403.html Sent from the Pharo Smalltalk Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
