the amazing Tools > Finder > Examples tool

Just wanting to relate a recent experience using Examples in the Finder, since this is a great tool that I didn't learn how to use for a long time. I have just now again been pleasantly surprised and mildly amazed that it works a well as it does. Perhaps there is someone out there might gain from an introduction to its use... I am creating a mouse-over popup using Rossal, for which I needed to format a string to a maximum width. This is something I thought likely already done within the standard image but before rushing to the mail list to ask an old-hand where I might find it, I thought I'd just try... 1. World Menu > Tools > Finder 2. Choosing "Examples" from the pull down menu. 3. In the search-input-field typing: 'abcdef' . 3 . 'abc', String cr , 'def' 4. Clicking the <Search> button. which gave me one result String>>withNoLineLongerThan: that was exactly what I needed. You will notice that the search input field is an array of three items: * 'abcdef' - this first item is the receiver of the message * 3 - middle items are parameters to the message * 'abc', String cr , 'def' - the last item is the message-return-value The really cool part of this is being able to construct the message-return-value as an expression, to place a newline carriage-return where I would expect it to appear. cheers -ben

In the past there was VxWidgets but this has not been tested since years I guess. > Also if the image / development environment is exposed then can the code be obfuscated (say to avoid tampering) First you can block totally the access to the image - there are packages or simple techniques for that: for example change the default hnalder of UnhandledException not to open the debugger. - after you can execute your application without its changes (remove the .change file). - against people opening the vm with gbx and hacking bye codeâ¦.. there not much :) Stef

Deploying Pharo 2 onwards applications (commercial) on Win platforms

Hi I am new to Pharo ... What would be normal / optimum method of deploying Pharo applications on Win platforms (so as to give a native look and deployment feel). Hi, DBXTalk is the complete relational database management package. It includes a driver for opendbx and some tools, one of them GlorpDbx. Pharo , Opengl ES 2, Nativeboost and Android 4.1

So I decided to bite the bullet and start working on Morpheas, which is part of my project Ephestos ( a visual coding enviroment for graphics , music and sound) . Basically Morpheas will be a port of Morphic to OpenGL , probably simplified. So I started learning OpenGL ES 2 , because I was told that basically its possible to write code for both opengl es2 and opengl 3.1 without any major diffirence. And because opengl es 2 is what both Android and iOS use , I started considering what other issues besides opengl i have to handle. For now I am not so much interested on iOS because Apple does not allow for apps that can generate other apps and because Ephestos will be just an extension of pharo its most likely it will get rejected. So I decided to stick with Android for now.Â So the question is how do I use Pharo on Android. I know that CogVM can run on Android and that jenkins has builds for it , my problem is the FFI. I am going to need an FFI to use OpenGL ES , unless I could make Morpheas a pharo plugin which I guess that could work too. But I very beginner with all this and I want your advice on the subject. I assume Nativeboost wont work on an Android device. I own an iPad and I am thinking getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet.Â http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note_10.1/index.html
