Hello, I am new to (Pharo) UI programming, but appearently the way to go in Pharo is with Spec. As such, your starting point for these kinds of questions is to look in the trait TEasilyThemed (a class that makes use of this trait is ComposableMorph). My first stop were the methods such as "newTextEntryFor:getText:setText:help:". Following them, you can see that a similar method is invoked on the (current) "theme". In UITheme, take a look inside of "newTextEntryIn:for:get:set:class:getEnabled:help:" There you find the answer to your question: PluggableTextFieldMorph. Hope it helps! Just one thing, so that he doesn't lose hope so fast. Maybe if he explains a bit of the context there's a better solution. Can you say what library you want to bind? About binding C++, IF it's in a DLL, I wouldn't say that it's plain impossible, but that it depends mainly on how the dll is generated, as there are different degrees of compatibility between C++ and DLLs. As nativeboost let's you generate custom assembly, in theory it may be possible but in practice might be hard, you should be warned, and will require some low-level programming abilities. My first question is if you are sure it's a C++ dll and not a plain C one? You may want to read this<http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/28969/HowTo-Export-C-classes-from-a-DLL> to understand what you are dealing with first. btw, I don't know what are you trying to do, but some c++ libraries provides an "ffi capable" extra library, to handle this kind of issues. VAST-style Compile-time constants

Hi all, I'm investigating the feasibility of porting a large VAST application to Pharo, so I may have some questions in the coming days. Here's my first question: VAST has the concept of compile-time constants, using the ##() syntax. Whatever is in the parentheses is evaluated at compile time, and the result is stored, so the evaluation does not need to happen again when the method is sent later. E.g., when this method is sent: printTheNumberToTheTranscript Transcript nextPutAll: ##( 10 factorial asString ) . no calculation or string conversion is necessary, because 10 factorial asString was evaluated at compile time and the answer was stored. Please note that this is different from array literals, which is how Pharo seems to treat this syntax. C++ and FFI = Forget It just google for it.. you will see that literally no single language which fully supports it.. most of things require a lot of extra non-trivial steps and not always working.. Hello, CollectionExtensions is a package of Moose, it was never in Pharo. It has not been integrated because nobody yet cared to coordinate to integrate the CollectionExtensions into collections (those parts that are generally useful). CollectionExtensions missing in Pharo 2.0

Hello all, I remarked that the package CollectionExtensions is missing in Pharo 2.0. We are using a useful method provided by the package on strings that provides character intervals for line numbers in a string. Here is the code from 1.4: intervalOfLine: aLineNumber "Answer an interval spanning between the first and the last character of the line from aLineNumber" | lineIndex | lineIndex := 0. self lineIndicesDo: [ :start :endWithoutDelimiters :end | lineIndex := lineIndex + 1. lineIndex = aLineNumber ifTrue: [ ^ start to: end ] ]. ^ 0 to: 0 Now, this method is missing in Pharo 2.0. I think all I did was to move the contents of recursiveDelete into MCFileTreeFileDirectoryUtils class>>deleteAll: and guard clause on directory names from an ignore list. I think it is just because SVN 1.7 and git hold all of their meta information in the root directory whereas 1.6 holds it at every level of the directory tree. FileTree seems to simply replace a package directory whenever you commit so takes some of SVN's internals with it. I actually 'hacked' it by just saying don't delete any directories called .svn which seemed to work but have since just gone back to your version and made sure to use 1.7. I will let you know how I get on with the preview. Although I am managing to run things without the meta currently and just using Gofer to load. Thanks Dale, I'll give the Baseline stuff a go. I've only been trying to use my old Configuration for it's dependency information and purely in a loadBleedingEdge capacity, as it's version capabilities are obviously redundant in this context. I'll try it with the meta back in there, but was having some issues with the version file and conflicts on each commit.
