GRPharoPlatform>>isIpAddress bug?

Hi, I think I've discovered an problem in the following class>>method but still considering myself somewhat of a newbie, I'm not entirely sure: GRPharoPlatform>>isIpAddress: aString | ip | ip := aString findTokens: '.'. ^ ip size = 4 and: [ ip allSatisfy: [ :each | each greaseInteger notNil and: [ each greaseInteger notNil between: 0 and: 255] ] ] The problem is the last line "each greaseInteger notNil between: 0 and: 255"... where the notNil message returns a true or false, and it does not respond to "between:and:". I believe the fix ought to be to remove the "notNil" in the last line to result in the line: "each greaseInteger between: 0 and: 255" since the "notNil" is already considered before the "and:". Yes, there is a project called Zodiac that reimplements socketstream and adds secure (SSL) socket streams. These are then used for HTTPS. I think they should also work for sending email over SSL. At the moment Zodiac is still in development, if you are interested, see my messages to the Pharo dev list. Pharo typically blocks when the main or UI thread is doing something, which includes IO. You can perfectly do all kinds of things in other threads. Status of SSL on Pharo? (and some general questions on mail and IO)

Hi, I'm looking for a way to send email using SSL. Googling I've found several conversations from earlier this year on the subject, including one thread from May and another from January. In the May thread it sounded like a project was getting kicked off to do something that might be official-ish. Has there been progress on this? Second question, while playing with mail in my pharo image, the entire image seems to block during the handshake/send. Is there a way around that? If not, would a solution perhaps be to run a separate image to send emails and communicate via a db or file system? Final question, does Pharo always block on IO? My impression was that all Smalltalks did at one time, but that some (visualworks? squeak?) had fixed that years ago. Thanks.

String to number conversion issues

Hi, I need to convert web input (Strings) to decimal numbers. I have a regex that will recognize numeric strings, but not all of them can be converted to a number with asNumber. For example, anything with a leading $+ fails, as does anything beginning with '.' (even though .3 isNumber answers true.) or '-.' Is there any code for dealing with this kind of thing (ie a method to be called before calling asNumber or a more robust library for string conversions? Given that all web input is strings and a lot of it is decimal numbers, i have to believe there is code somewhere that does this safely, maybe even with tests. :) Thanks.

I was looking for a Cog VM with plugins and the information on the website is not very clear about the best way to get one. First, on the download page there is still a link to the old CI server (or is it still used?) http://www.pharo-project.org/pharo-download Second, the link for the Cog VMs points to http://www.mirandabanda.org/files/Cog/VM/ Unfortunately, these VMs come with no plugin. Thanks, that's really what I'm looking for. After a few months of Cucumber, I can't imagine diving into a new project without it. BTW, is the current Seaside Testing loadable in Seaside 3.0.6? Hi Simon, I am working on a Cucumber implementation in Pharo, as soon as I have some working code, I will publish it on Squeaksource to get your feedback. I am also thinking of integrating this tool with Seaside Testing, for doing BDD/outside-in development like in Ruby on Rails. SSpec seems to be abandoned, but as far as I know, with Phexample (http://www.squeaksource.com/phexample/) and Mocketry (http://www.squeaksource.com/@wYyUVbTclnMIsEN3/IAUIW6j3) you can get the same functionality.
