Starting a new ancestry from an MC package

Can I save a MC package without its ancestor info? I made changes to a package, but the new and old packages are not logically related. I would like the new package to appear as the first in its ancestry. Thanks. We requested that for the inria forge. Now the pharo-project web site should shield us from inria and provide such link. Having such an URL would be great indeed. Right now I always have to specify it manually as a parameter to the root image in Hudson. With a constant URL Hudson could automatically detect a new image and perform the complete build chain. Pharocasts: Web application testing through Selenium-RC

Designed to support several testing systems, it actually provides an implementation which uses Selenium RC. You can test a any web application with it; but if you are developing Seaside applications you can take a component (any component), and unit test that component. For me the cool part is that with this sort of tool it's easy to open the entreprise backdoor to Pharo. Pharo + WebTester can quickly integrate an existing (web) development based on other tools / languages. Christoph's voice should arrive soon. Hi All, is there a unique URL to the latest pharo core or dev release? For example(it just an example to express my idea, it could be different), if i want the latest Pharo Core release, i would like to access the following URL www.pharo-project.org/PharoCore/latestRelease/ | -> a Zip file with the latest release The same applies to Pharo Dev, it could be www.pharo-project.org/Pharo/latestRelease/ | -> a Zip file with the latest release Therefore, i could write a script to download the latest release when you announce a new one. The truth is that i am too lazy to access the web browser and navigate to the download page. Perhaps, i am missing something here. Could you help me? thanks in advance

If you change the class all of the objects are migrated towards the new class. Your use case is indeed a difficult one. I assume that in name you have first and last name combined. This scenario mostly means you need a two-step change. Usually you would scan all of your instances and you would create some method (splitName) that can split the name into firstName and lastName. The next step would be to add that method and the instance variables firstName and lastName to your class. In a monticello package you can have something executed after installation. That be something like Person allInstances: [:each| each splitName] Now you would have three instance variables all filled with values. In the next monticello upgrade you can remove the instance variable name from the class safely. Well, you could have the code the splits the name also to remove the instance variable. But if you are feeling insecure the two-step approach is good. Hope this helps, Norbert

Now I change Person's definition to have the instance variables 'firstName' and 'lastName' and remove the instance variable 'name'. The Person instances I have now have instance variables 'firstName' and 'lastName' set to nil. When I'm developing locally it is okay (if irritating) for me to wipe out any objects that I have in memory and start again.
