One way is to -bring up the morphic halo (shift-alt on mac) and click until you have the pluggable button selected. -click the debug halo (spanner) and say inspect morph. -see the actionSelector is openRepository -browse implementors, there is only one -correlate this with the model -toggle break on entry in the method view -press the button cheers Mike

[GSoC] Coding started yesterday!

Hi everybody. First, let me apologize for the multiple cross post. I think it is good to show the Smalltalk community periodically the status of GSoC. The good news in this case is that yesterday the students started to code! This was one of the GSoC deadlines that you can read in http://gsoc2010.esug.org/ and in http://socghop.appspot.com/document/show/gsoc_program/google/gsoc2010/faqs#… . Last two weeks or so, students have been talking and discussing with their mentors, reading and investigating about the projects. Some students already started to code before. But yesterday was the official day to start to code. For those that didn't know, we got not 5 but 6 projects. We asked more and they gave us one more ;) Once again, if you want to look at the 6 selected projects, see http://gsoc2010.esug.org/projects We already told students to ask in case of problems or questions to their mentors but also to the community (trough the mailing list). I have the same error when I try to open (to see the packages) any repositories so I assume I have a problem with the proxy server and I wanted to try to figure out why. Debugging "Error: Could not access..."

I am trying to use the debugger to find our why I get: "Error: Could not access http://www.squeaksource.com/Pharo" via an HTTP proxy server with authentication. What's the correct way to create anonymous subclasses in Pharo?

Hi everybody, I am attempting to create subclasses of existing classes at runtime. They must not be in their superclass' list of subclasses, because they have to be garbage collected when they are no longer needed. This is what I tried to create such a class in Pharo 1.0: newMeta := (Metaclass new) superclass: Rectangle class methodDictionary: MethodDictionary new format: Rectangle class format; yourself. newClass := (newMeta new) superclass: Rectangle methodDictionary: MethodDictionary new format: Rectangle format; setName: #MyRectangle; yourself. newClass new class == newClass "--> false" The result of "newClass new" seems to be an instance of Rectangle, not of newClass. The test at the end of the code snippet answers false. When I compile a new method in newClass and install it in newClass' methodDictionary, an instance will not understand a message with the method's selector.
