Unicode in Pharo1.1

Hi all, I'm a real newbie in Pharo and Smalltalk. I want to type in Cyrillic and Hebrew. However I get question marks. I tried to change fonts, but I have only to available fonts: * Accuny * Bitmap DejaVu Sans Which don't have Unicode glyphs. When I try to update fonts from the system, I don't see any result. Sure, but I prefer to answer this on the Pharo mailing list, so that a record remains for other users to read. So, to load a smalltalk file, you need to "file-in" its source code into the image. This is done in Pharo the following way: 1. Open your image. 2. Open world menu (in linux is left-click) 3. Select the Tools menu 4. Choose the File Browser 5. In the window that appears navigate to the directory where the .st files are 6. When you select a .st file, the row of buttons on the top of the window change and show a new filein button. Press it. This will load the files, compile it and install it on your image. Hope this help. "Making ToolSet more flexible", any taker?

So, if we are all ok with it I'll be setting it up at some point between today and tomorrow. Regarding the founding process both kickstarter and pledgie looks nice. From the FAQ it seems that kickstarter needs an US bank account, don't know if that may be an issue. I have evaluated Gofer new squeaksource: 'MetacelloRepository'; package: 'ConfigurationOfFFI'; load. and Gofer new squeaksource: 'MetacelloRepository'; package: 'ConfigurationOfSqueakDBX'; load. from the pharo page http://www.squeakdbx.org/news http://www.squeakdbx.org/news it says to evaluate DBXPlatform disableAutomaticConnectionReleaseOnGC However evaluating this gives me an error. unknown Variable DBXplatform. If you want to define your own global keyboard shortcuts, you can try my GlobalKeys for Pharo package (http://www.squeaksource.com/GlobalKeys) I use it to launch windows in pre-defined locations and with pre-defined sizes and launch an external web browser during Seaside development. I also made Ctrl-Tab switch between Pharo windows ;). Keyboard shortcuts

I have discovered a bunch of keyboard shortcuts on my own but is there someplace I can find a full list? A specific shortcut that would really be convenient is to be able to switch between Pharo 'morphs', like how I do with alt+tab on Windows. For example, I'm always switching between a workspace and the system browser. I'd like not to have to reach for the mouse each time. Is there such a beast? Dan

I am sorry, I should have said also that I am using SandstoneDb to try to save these objects. A SortedCollection is the type of collection I need, but SandstoneDb cannot save it. Also, as Mariano points out, remember that you can convert from one collection to another by sending the message #asCollectionName replacing the CollectionName for the collection you want. In addition the great answer of Alan, I want to add that you should be really careful about using SortedCollections, because adding is much slower than in other collections. The problem seams to be the kind of collection you are using. A SortedCollection holds elements sorted by a given criteria (In the form of a block). When you add elements to an instance of SortedCollection, the rule is execute with the new object added, and the contained object to determinate the object position. Now, the at: put: message in this kind of collections (SortedCollection is a specific class of OrderedCollection), is used to put an object instead of another. But in a SortedCollection, if you replace an object by other, then you are breaking the sort of the collection. That's why SortedCollection overrides at:put: as self shouldNotImplement, which raises an exception indicating that you send a message that should not be implemented by that object (Although for me, this reflects a bad design in the hierarchy of Collection) So the possible solutions are: -If what you want is sort the elements by a giving criteria, use add: to add the objects to the collection. -If you want to sort the collection by the order in which you added the elements, use OrderedCollection instead. SandstoneDB and SortedCollection

I have a User that hold a Collection of decisions. Each decision holds a sorted collection of candidates and a sorted collection of objectives. User is a subclass of SDActiveRecord.
