Right now it doesn't allow you to change the bytecodes.
It's practical uses depend, more of less, on whether or not you are dealing with bytecodes or not. If you are the it's quite useful to see how values are being pushed/popped from the stack. Also the normal debugger executes multiple bytecode instructions at once.
