Hi, have you seen it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharo it is old, small, non-accurate and well... it could receive a lot of love :) (the weird thing is that the image is actually a 2.0 image, he) Can anyone adopt the page and update it? thanks, Esteban ps: also... we have a lot of spanish speakers in this list (including myself). Yes but also I do not want that people think that I want to have less Squeak on the pharo page. To me a Pharo page should be about: all the history about the squeak fork is now history for me. As a newbie I wante to get excited by pharo not understand the history of ant fighting while elephants are running around. The license story is also a pain. I would move all that into history. Stef

I tried to write some more stuff on the French Pharo wiki page : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharo . I moved all the reference to history (birth of smalltalk, relation with companies, forking) in the history section. I tried to focus the page on How to use Pharo and Who uses Pharo. I would like the add a part 'Why Pharo is so great' with all its nice features, which are kind of already in the introduction of the page but I don't know how to present it well and what to focus on. Right now it is more like 'It is smalltalk so it is great' but not 'This is Pharo and these are the reasons why it is great' like they have on Amber web page. I don't think the author meant anything negative by the term "benevolent dictatorship". There are quite a few communities who operate that way - Python, Clojure and Linux spring to mind. frank

The English wiki page should now be refactored and corrected too. You could put back some data from the previous page but as it was almost only about Squeak/Pharo difference or license issues ... Some work is needed for the Spanish wiki pages. Does anyone speaking Spanish can do something about it ? Actually English and Spanish are the two most spoken language for international work so it would be nice to have these two pages looking good. To go further we would need a brainstorming on 'Why Pharo is so great ?'. It could also be used for the next Pharo-project website. Basically, what to tell to a newcomer that has from 1 to 8 years of java experience so he would be impressed by Pharo capabilities and would like to work with Pharo. To me, the main point is the efficient debugger that permit the edit and continue development cycle. I added it to the wiki. What else ? It would be nice to have examples, videos or tutorials for these aspects to show to newcomers. And don't tell me story about Squeak compared to Pharo newcomers don't know both of them. I'm going to edit it a little to introduce Pharo in the page instead of having a bunch of critics against some people of the community.
I don't think the author meant anything negative by the term "benevolent dictatorship". There are quite a few communities who operate that way - Python, Clojure and Linux spring to mind.
