I am not sure, I don't know about this "battle", but don't want to have anything to do with this battle.

Misunderstandings, miscommunications... Spec was deliberately relicensed as GPL3 when "integrated in IDE", so it was no longer possible to integrate _new_ stuff into Pharo (as GPL is restrictive and not compatible with MIT). (As to whether such restriction can be even applied for other's people code (relicencing isn't sublicencing) is different matter.) In either case the licence was changed back to MIT, so from licencing perspective there shouldn't be any problem. (If such integration would cause bad blood somewhere, that's also another matter.) Benjamin forced us to react and the Inria lawyers did their job. Then he wrote this funny sentence. I asked the inria laywers to stay calm when they saw this sentence. You know they laugh one minute and after they want to attack. So I would ignore anything related to Benjamin because the spirit is not positive. I would focus on the current spec issues in Pharo and see step by step how we can address them. If we propose the same solution that in the Spec git repo then it will be a coincidence. if you can create slices for the changes, I can help with testing and reviewing them.

So ideally we should open separate issue for each of the things you want to integrate and resolve them one at a time. Several smaller issues are more manageable than one big "integrate X things" issue. And close the original one, or add the new ones as subissues.

So now we stil have 2 subissues, that need discussion. They break backwards compatibility (basically it's about using Spec models instead of morphs in some methods). However it's not clear if these methods are widely used. So maybe transition will be painless, maybe not so much. We need to decide if it's worth it.
