[Pharo-project] add: message declared in Collection

by dimacamp

Does anyone know why the #add: message is declared in Collection as subclassResponsibility if then some subclasses need to cancel the message raising a shouldNotImplement exception? Why isn't just declared in the classes that really should answer that message? Thanks. Re: [Pharo-project] who is in charge of the web pages?

by Adrian Lienhard

Great! In autumn, I'm going to be away (traveling, and hence I'm probably not online very often). It's good to know that somebody is taking care of the website. Laurent, I've added privileges to your account so you have access to all content and features and you can also add/remove user logins. I believe that the license issue has been resolved with an MIT licensed release of the CameraPlugin plugin and support code. Discussion is on vm-dev: <http://lists.squeakfoundation.org/pipermail/vm-dev/2011-July/008973.html> And a copy of the MIT code is attached to a new Mantis issue here: <http://bugs.squeak.org/view_all_bug_page.php?page_number=1> Dave On Sat, Jul 30, 2011 at 10:02:31AM +0200, St?phane Ducasse wrote: > It depends on a dependencies also at the vm level and how they can crip in the system. > > Stef > > On Jul 30, 2011, at 12:09 AM, Hilaire Fernandes wrote: > > > But anyway, I guess you don't want to include it in PharoCore, so the > > license issue is not the concern of PharoTeam, right? > > In the other hand, if a third party want to use it, it will have to find > > its own way to comply with the license. > > > > Hilaire > > > > Le 29/07/2011 15:20, Marcus Denker a ?crit : > >> > >> On Jul 29, 2011, at 3:16 PM, Bernat Romagosa wrote: > >> > >>> Sure, I attach it here. > >>> > >>> It looks like a standard MIT license with just these extra conditions added. > >>> > >> And with > > > > -- > > Education 0.2 -- http://blog.ofset.org/hilaire > > > > >

[Pharo-project] Configuration Browser is a mastery

by Lukas Renggli

I played earlier with the "Configuration Browser" and wondered what it was all about ... After the following question on StackOverflow I played with it again: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6880596/how-to-browse-metacello-reposito… Maybe it should be removed from Pharo 1.3, if the following issues cannot be fixed easily? 1. The windows is empty, refreshing leaves the window empty. This seems to be because <http://www.squeaksource.com/MetaRepoForPharo13> is an empty repository. It would probably be better to point it to <http://www.squeaksource.com/MetacelloRepository> which seems to be the repository with most configurations; or fill the other repository with some tested configurations? 2. The listing lists many packages that are clearly not configurations, e.g. Bogus-cwp.18, Illiad-Core0.1, ... Loading them opens a debugger. 3. The tool doesn't show me what configurations are already loaded (ok, that might not be implemented yet, but would be a key feature and easy to find out). 4. MetacelloConfigurationBrowser>>#refresh and MetacelloConfigurationBrowser>>#loadConfigurationWithLatest: duplicates the manual parsing of package filenames. This is bound to break. Why not use Gofer? It depends on a dependencies also at the vm level and how they can crip in the system. This issue has been entered as Mantis 7654: "Add Scratch plugins CameraPlugin and ScratchPlugin to standard VMs". <http://bugs.squeak.org/view.php?id=7654> MIT licensed sources for CameraPlugin, provided by the Scratch development team last year (hence not necessarily fully up to date), are attached to the Mantis report. My understanding is that the ScratchPlugin is available under the same terms (MIT licensed), although I do not have access to the source at this time. Dave

But anyway, I guess you don't want to include it in PharoCore, so the license issue is not the concern of PharoTeam, right? In the other hand, if a third party want to use it, it will have to find its own way to comply with the license.
