I tried to build gcc as mentioned in Mariano's post, but of course it didn't work. Okay, I nuked the build directory, generated sources from the generator image, and configured successfully. aahh damn, I always forget that all the paths are hardcoded :P so yeah, you have to generate the sources again. So try following either Mariano's Instructions or the HOWTOBUILD. fingers crossed.
