We removed recently the package annotation in the senders (because they scan all the image because of package info implementation) but we need this information to curve out etoys. We integrated more than 1500 bug fixes and improvements (pragmas, closure compiler, traits....) and even more if we consider the version used in Cuis. We support truetype fonts and we are cleaning the system, when the cruft will be removed we will probably focus on making it faster. We are rewriting Package info from scratch. Damien could you start to make pharo-dev having less tools and that we see what is the default UI? David is working on a new version of the browser but in case of speed problem we should probably use the one of lukas. Stef

I would rather vote for doing this in a plugin, extending on the Enhanced/ExtendedClipboard plugin. Michael

[Pharo-project] macintosh clipboard and images

A couple of years ago the Sophie team built out the logic to enable the cut/copy/paste of a tremendous amount of clipboard data types in and out of Squeak. For the macintosh this include image data, data from selections made in the finder, and oh I don't know it seemed like 42 flavours of Textual data. it seems a shame to let that go all to waste and let Pharo languish with UTF-8. The problem has always been Oh EToys won't support FFI so progress on this front seems dim. However I'm wondering if there is any interested if I port the Sophie clipboard work to Pharo? Using FFI for the macintosh & Windows, where windows requires QuickTime for Window. Note the Sophie team decided because Quicktime for Window was a pre- requirement for iTunes that well everyone has iTunes on windows now... PS I note there are some hassles, Microsoft word for example sticks both the TIFF for the page, the UTF-16, UTF-8, ascii, macroman etc. on the the clipboard for a page. Very difficult to figure out what to do for that, in that case we knew the target was either image data, or text data, since we knew what the target was, but for Pharo I"m not sure what the solution would be. -- = = = ======================================================================== John M. [Pharo-project] Problem with encoding and double quotes

Hi! I am having a problem with encoding and I am not sure if it is a bug or if it is correct. I copy Pier and Pharo mailing list. I am in Linux and when I write a double quote I write something like this: "Muelle Almirante Storni" If I write in OpenOffice, when I type the double quote key, OpenOffice writes something like this: âMuelle Almirante Storniâ Notice that the quotes are these last ones are twisted and the first were straight. If I copy paste "Muelle Almirante Storni" in a workspace of Pharo, it is perfectly understood. But if I paste I get: ?Muelle Almirante Storni? Now...I am developing a pier application my main problem is that my "functional information" is in .doc so they that the twisted ones. As they are put in the image trought Pier and a KomEncoded, there is not problem....until I try to search on the string. If I evaluate: ' âMuelle Almirante Storniâ' findString: 'esquel' startingAt: 1 caseSensitive: false This has a problem (index out of range) because internaly it tries to ask the asciiValue and this answers 2881 -> absurd Now, my solution is everytime I copy paste the text from a .doc to a Pier page I have to replace those twisted quotes for the straight ones. Is this a bug? or it is just like this ? thanks mariano
