We do that with Pillar because we have the control over it and because we have it since long time. The seaside book was fully written in pillar.
Can Pillar handle footnotes? (I can't see on the cheetsheet.) Seeing that quotes are used for *both* italic and bold, I wonder if Pillar can do nested inline markup, like e.g. bold-italic? It's one of the design limit of rst, but AsciiDoc can handle it.
