there is a Python2.7 parser with AST that could be used.

SmaCC on github. Look for SmaCC-Python and SmaCC-Python-Tests.If you're using Moose, you should be able to import just SmaCC-Python from the github repository. There is even a BaselineOfPythonParser, but I haven't used it. Thierry
