i think that the problem here (as i understood), that search window capturing a global focus, while in reality it should prevent interaction only with window, where you activated search/replace function, so you should not be able to interact with that window, while still should be able to interact with another ones. But, it should not take the keyboard focus: if you click on a code pane, for example, the find & replace window comes to top but the clicked code pane should keep the keyboard focus.
