Smalltalk-80 used a blend of ASCII-1963 and ASCII-1967. In ASCII-1963, character code 16r5E was actually an up-arrow, and 16r5F was actually a left arrow. In ASCII-1967 those codes are caret and underscore. Regards, -Martin
