Yeah and there many tools to to help you out. For example take a look at phonegap. Became so popular for ios and android apps that now are owned by Adobe. So there is definetly a big market you can exploit. Another one is Titanium. Because they are all javascript amber can play with all of them so there is huge potential. A good point, and I've been meaning to get to grips with Amber.
I was going to say "but I can't put a JavaScript app into the App Store to sell", but a bit of googling makes it look like it's possible, if a bit circuitous. Interesting...
