[Pharo-project] Scalable fonts

I needed to create "big" text for annotating images and found that only certain sizes were available. That led me to http://forum.world.st/additional-font-size-td3206897.html I ended up adding the following to my code: FreeTypeFontProvider current families isEmpty ifTrue:[ FreeTypeFontProvider current updateFromSystem. ]. aFont := LogicalFont familyName: 'DejaVu Sans Mono' pointSize:100. It seems to work. Is there a better way to do it? Should there be any helper methods in LogicalFont to do this type of thing? A lazy LogicalFont class>>loadSystemFonts would be less invasive than setting the preference to load fonts on startup, since it could be triggered as needed and cost nothing otherwise. I am thinking of LogicalFont mostly because I learned to look there a long time ago, so it is the first place I go for fonts. Bill

Levente, Yes, I did follow your instructions, and got the same error message reported in the post I cited. The solution only solution I have found to that problem is the get the image up and running and THEN attach gdb to it. I can't do that, because the vm dies way too early for that to work. So, I would need to attach, or find another solution to the problem. Bill Levente wrote: Did you follow my instructions? [Pharo-project] FAQ migration

I migrated the FAQ to the pharo book. I've added a few comments where corrections / verifications are needed that I couldn't do myself. There are also some formatting issues (tabs are converted to spaces which are used as indents so some code is indented quite a bit more compared to other code). Since the "hard work" is now done, this is a call to everyone to please take a look at the FAQ and update it. Some of the stuff in there is really outdated. I'm calling it a day. Good night. Max
