Re: [Pharo-dev] Please rejoin Discord
by Tudor Girba
Hi Kilon,
Thanks for all the effort.
One interesting thing that this situation revealed to me is that I realized that I missed the access to the community that Discord provides.
Thanks for doing this.
Cheers,
Doru

I get the same...
$ gcc -c -m64 -o pseudoTTYLib.c.o
/home/ben/Pharo/images/Pharo-7.0.0-alpha.build.674.sha.57447e7.arch.64bit/pharo-local/iceberg/pavel-krivanek/terminal/lib/pseudoTTYLib.c
$ gcc -shared -m64 -o pseudoTTYLib.so pseudoTTYLib.c.o -lutil
/usr/bin/ld: pseudoTTYLib.c.o: relocation R_X86_64_PC32 against undefined
symbol `fork@@GLIBC_2.2.5' can not be used when making a shared object;
recompile with -fPIC
/usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
and it works with -fPIC
$ gcc -fPIC -c -m64 -o pseudoTTYLib.c.o
/home/ben/Pharo/images/Pharo-7.0.0-alpha.build.674.sha.57447e7.arch.64bit/pharo-local/iceberg/pavel-krivanek/terminal/lib/pseudoTTYLib.c
$ gcc -shared -m64 -o pseudoTTYLib.so pseudoTTYLib.c.o -lutil
:)
Interestingly, 32-bit works okay without -fPIC...
$ gcc -c -m32 -o pseudoTTYLib.c.o
/home/ben/Pharo/images/Pharo-7.0.0-alpha.build.674.sha.57447e7.arch.64bit/pharo-local/iceberg/pavel-krivanek/terminal/lib/pseudoTTYLib.c
$ gcc -shared -m32 -o pseudoTTYLib.so pseudoTTYLib.c.o -lutil
The reason being... "Not only does gcc encourage you to use PIC for shared
libraries on x64, it requires it by default."

It took me a few minutes to catch up, so for others, the following works in
Pharo7 build674...
win := TerminalEmulator open.
(PseudoTTYEndpoint command: '/bin/bash' arguments: {'-i'}) asProtocolStack
push: TerminalEmulatorXterm new;
push: win tty;
install;
run

Ohhh, that is very cool!!!
Would something l like this be possible later? (It would make a good
promotion video)
1. Double-click an Ubuntu desktop icon that opens only this terminal window
2. From that terminal use some special syntax to issue commands to the
Image running it,
e.g. to open the IDE.
3. Make some modifications to the terminal code (like how colours are
displayed)
while the terminal is running.

Please rejoin Discord
by Dimitris Chloupis
Hey guys after my mistake we got "hacked" and someone banned all our
members in Discord
I have revoked all the bans but you will have to rejoin . Existing join
links are still valid , if you dont have one here is one
https://discord.gg/gtKeHne
My apologies for this inconvenience, I am still exploring all possible
threats to make sure this never happens again.

Re: [Pharo-dev] Discord server vanished!
by Dimitris Chloupis
Ok it seem bans also remove members so you will have to rejoin again
this is the link
https://discord.gg/gtKeHne
Apparently Discord never heard of "temporary ban" :D
Existing invite links that have not expired still work so you can use one
of those as well

Re: [Pharo-dev] Discord server vanished!
by Dimitris Chloupis
Yeap I am lazy an I found a mouse recorder to do this automatically for me
, having to unban 933 members itâs not fun to do it manually , 330 bans
have been revoked , another 600 to go. In a hour you will be all back on
line , I have already unbanned all our members that had a picture on their
profile.
I have also removed the admin role from the bot and will ban ASAP I finish
revoking all bans. I will also explore to see if there are any other
possible gaps in our security.
There is no reason for you to use an invite , removing the ban will restore
your ability to access the Pharo server.
Also admins please note I have removed all webhooks , we will have to
recreate them for security reasons.

So it is in line with the time taken by my 7 years old i3.
