There's a talk John McIntosh gave at Smalltalk solutions about his adventures with Apple and the iPhone scratch app - http://www.stic.st/events/smalltalk-solutions-2011-abstracts/scratching-the… John has made the code available: http://bit.ly/em3uZc On 11 July 2011 07:24, Steve Taylor <stephen.taylor(a)bom.gov.au> wrote: > First of all - I hope this isn't a bit off topic for this list. [Pharo-project] Pharo/Squeak an iOS

by Steve Taylor

First of all - I hope this isn't a bit off topic for this list. If it is, someone give me kick and I'll ask elsewhere... I've noticed some posts in the past showing Squeak or Pharo running on iPhones, but haven't paid close attention to them. Now I've gone and bought myself an iPad and all of a sudden I want nothing more than to write software for it using Smalltalk... Is there a feasible route for getting applications written in Smalltalk onto a *non-jailbroken* iPad? I'm well aware of Apple's restriction on allowing programmable systems onto the iPhone/iPad, but I'm looking more at writing some sort of simple game which just happens to have been written in Smalltalk and ultimately getting it into the AppStore. Any pointers to interesting information? regards, Steve

[Pharo-project] petitparser tutorial

by Tudor Girba

Hi, I put together a tutorial for PetitParser in The Moose Book: http://www.themoosebook.org/book/internals/petit-parser/mse The tutorial is meant to work with a Moose image and it is based on the same scenario as I used at the Deep into Smalltalk School: http://www.slideshare.net/girba/petitparser-at-the-deep-into-smalltalk-scho… http://ci.moosetechnology.org/job/moose-latest-dev/lastSuccessfulBuild/arti… Feedback is always appreciated (including the negative one :)). You can either reply by mail, or leave a comment online. Cheers, Doru -- www.tudorgirba.com "Presenting is storytelling."

Re: [Pharo-project] loading OSProcess in Pharo1.3

by Schwab,Wilhelm K

I had the opposite problem a while back: ConfigurationOfCitezen was choosing a version of Seaside for me, and #loadNoWeb was the solution. The other question I always have is which incantation to use? The situation is improving, but short of studying the code in each config each time one builds an image, I have yet to find a robust way to load things. My latest attempt (untested) appears below. Bill "7-11 - configs change over time - try to make one thing that can work." tryThese := { [config load. ]. [config project stableVersion load. ]. [config project latestVersion load. ]. }. versionStringOrNil isNil ifTrue:[ "7-11 - can this mask complexities? config load." tryThese detect:[ :each | [ each value. true. ] on:Error do:[ :e | false. ]. ]. ] ifFalse:[ ( config project version:versionStringOrNil ) load. ]. ________________________________________ From: pharo-project-bounces(a)lists.gforge.inria.fr [pharo-project-bounces(a)lists.gforge.inria.fr] On Behalf Of Johan Brichau [johan(a)inceptive.be] Sent: Sunday, July 10, 2011 4:07 PM To: Pharo-project(a)lists.gforge.inria.fr Subject: Re: [Pharo-project] loading OSProcess in Pharo1.3 You are right... except that I am not using a ConfigurationOfOSProcess strange... my metacello config just points to the repository and loads the OSProcess package... why is it loading an older version? probably another config that I am loading that points to it? ... argh... thanks, at least I know now :-) On 10 Jul 2011, at 20:08, Mariano Martinez Peck wrote: yes, it was. You are right... except that I am not using a ConfigurationOfOSProcess strange... my metacello config just points to the repository and loads the OSProcess package... why is it loading an older version? probably another config that I am loading that points to it? ... argh... thanks, at least I know now :-) On 10 Jul 2011, at 20:08, Mariano Martinez Peck wrote: > yes, it was. yes, it was. Probable nobody updated ConfigurationOfOSProcess as Johan is loading an old version. It looks like there is some sort of pattern matching and there are false positives. For example, on the above mentioned page, there are links to "as:" and "ensure:" - yeah I guess I can disable the parsing for selectors :) > - The preview that pops out when hovering over methods is too slow and it only shows a white box for a long time. For example, I selected Error and the diagram is like the one in the attachment. It looks like the current class, is displayed with more methods, but I do not understand how the rest of the classes were selected. - as a lame excuse ;) I simply took over existing code, will investigate that, since its rather bizarr > Cheers, > Doru > > On 9 Jul 2011, at 13:30, Noury Bouraqadi wrote: >> very cool >> On 8 juil. 2011, at 21:29, Camillo Bruni wrote: >>> hi all, >>> >>> damien and me finally found enough time at the pharo sprint to put a working version of webdoc online: >>> >>> http://rmod.lille.inria.fr/webdoc/ >>> >>> Please test and give some feedback :) (the major issue right now is speed, but since we plan on using it only as an html generator which later-on should be served statically this shouldn't be much of a problem) >>> >>> cami

It's more or less easy :) but I haven't created a Configuration yet... meaning that you have to fetch a couple of things - Seaside - Seaside - REST (+ the pharo stuff) - PPMarkdownParser - PetitParser - RPackage - SimpleWebdoc - WebDoc I think thats it :). I think I will create a configuration tomorrow, so its easier to distribute, camillo
