[Pharo-project] SmalltalkHub news

by Nicolas Petton

Hi, We've been very quiet about SmalltalkHub's development since ESUG 2011. It's not that we didn't work on it, but there was no significant new feature to show. Part of the work was to make SmalltalkHub run smoothly on GemStone/S as well as under Squeak/Pharo, and allow pluggable persistency strategies instead of the hard-coded SandStoneDB persistency. We also took into account all the feedback we got and implemented several of the asked features and fixed reported issues: - RSS feeds for project activity and commits - markdown fixes - issue tracker improvements - better looking and more useful timeline events - loading indicators when necessary - project cloning fixes We are currently preparing a public demo of SmalltalkHub. It should be online after this weekend. This demo will be running on GemStone/S, will have many UI improvements and the usual bug fixes. Some features like project cloning and the scripting engine may not be available depending on the time we get. Cheers, Nicolas

Re: [Pharo-project] Website RSS feed broken?

Yes, I saw that. We're still investigating. The empty entries shouldn't matter, although I agree that they are ugly. I haven't forgotten your and I'll keep you posted. [Pharo-project] Icon for commented/uncommented classes

by Janko Mivšek

Hi guys, It would be very nice to visualy indicate in browser when some class has comment, or even better, when not. This is good for many reasons: - you know where to read comments and where is not worth trying - authors are encouraged to write those comments, to increase reputation avoid having too much that ! icons near not commented classes Also the ? button in browser should be red if there is no comment. This can be disabled in settings but by default it should be enabled. Best regards Janko -- Janko Mivšek Aida/Web Smalltalk Web Application Server http://www.aidaweb.si

Hi: The two offending news items are 'Pharo News #1' and 'Pharo News #3: Pharo 1.0 released'. Both changed their guid again. So, they are considered new. Ah and by the way, there are a couple of empty items in RSS feed, which change their links with every updated. The author tag says:
So, maybe it is something specific to the pharo news entries, since the TextLint entry did not pop up again? [Pharo-project] FS and binary files

Hi folks, I just started to using FS instead of FileDirectory. On readStream sent to FSReference a FSAnsiiStream turns out, which is not suitable for reading images ( for instance with PNGReadWriter). What did I wrong? Johannes

Re: [Pharo-project] GlorpDBX PostgreSQL Patch

Thanks Sven. We let the repo as global read because we usually receive unintentional commits. Do you think it is worth it to have a kind of DBXTalkInbox ? Alan, do you think this is useful also for Glorp trunk ? Thanks! Re: [Pharo-project] KeyboardEvent differences between platforms

by Fernando Olivero

Hi Guille, this is what i've captured by hooking up a GauchoWorld to listen to vm events. Below you can find the sequences of keyDown, KeyChar, KeyUp, that results from different keyboard presses, in both Mac and Win VM's. In short, when pressing 1. any modifier key WinVMs produce an DOWN and UP event, and MAC VM's dont produce anything. 2. a modified keystroke ( modifer + key ), WinVMS produce a DOWN,DOWN,CHAR,UP,UP, whilst MacVm's produce a DOWN,CHAR,UP. 3. regarding the content of the Control key presses, both WinVm's and MacVms, produce an incorrect value of the keychar when they announce the CHAR event. Not when they announce DOWN and UP. 4. On command, alt, shift both VM's produce the correct values on the CHAR event.
